Here is a video of my first real test. Single moto shield. Motors move. Step in the right direction :thumbs

Managed to fab a base under my seat and carpet it. Seat frame is painted and seat is mounted in place. Wood under the seat is temp to level the seat. Next is to fab up the arms from the seat to the motor.

Question. I have two monster Moto's one per each motor. One runs warm the other hot. I swapped them with the same result. It runs the motor but is just so much hotter then the other. Uncomfortably hot to the touch. Both have heatsinks and fans on them. Ideas?

Sounds like the balance of the rig may be slightly off and one motor is under more strain than the other.

So check the balance and then consider cooling. I do have some 80mm fans under my motors but it is really more about a bit of insurance as the motors hardly even get warm. Yours sound like both are working pretty hard.

The funny thing is I don't have them moving the seat yet. Just spinning the pots and one gets hot.

I took one motor apart and the ground is attached to the brushes. Unfortunate part is I will not be able to get it back together. I do have a spare motor though. I did notice one motor was stiffer then the other when be spinning. I'm wondering if that was putting a larger load on the motor driver?

Sorry. Also it's one of the monster moto boards that are getting hot not the wiper motors . They are cold to the touch. I'll swap in the new wiper motor to see if that makes a difference.

Ordered up these. Was going to use heim joints but thought these would be quieter and more reliable in the end. I believe they are for a Honda quad. They were $30 dollars Canadian for 4.

As I'm still waiting for some parts I decided to improve my cooling situation. I ended up having an old cpu cooler that works perfectly. I fabbed up a bracket as a mount. Cools the whole board nicely.

I'm also on the fence with the monster moto boards. Seems that only one of the four stays at a decent temp without a load. Kinda scared of it starting a fire. May pull the trigger on a 32x2 sabertooth motor controller. Its pricey but I hear good things. Also may end up with better motors but time will tell.

Looking at these wheelchair motors. Wondering if anyone could chime in and let me know if it's a good choice? I have two power supplies I can run in series to get 24v which is fine. Just not sure on the specs.

As a side question. If the total volts out of my power supplies are a bit over 24v let's say 26v. Would it damage the sabertooth which is rated up to 24v.

Made a little headway. Ended up getting some really nice wheelchair motors that were lightly used and never been in the elements. Also made some custom rods .1/2 inch cold rolled steel. Spun them on the lathe and cut some threads on the end. Turned out better then I thought. I also pulled the trigger on a sabertooth 2x32 .Next project is to mod my power supplies in series for 24v output. And start wiring the new electronics .

So I got everything hooked up and started testing. I was able to use sim utilities and test both motors. Both green lines converge to the blue line when testing . I followed all other instructions to a tee. Sabertooth is set I internally to the proper baud. Uno has the sabertooth sketch installed. I then installed sim tools and followed the setup guide. My uno parameters are entered as instructed with the correct and working com port. I installed that free racing game. Ran a couple laps and then patched it in simtools. I setup my interface settings as instructed. But I get nothing interns of movement when in game? I reinstalled the game. I tried other usb ports. I tried other cables. Read other posts with similar issues. I tried all suggestions with no luck. Any assistance would be appriciated .
