    Welcome @Gustavo.

When you have questions then the FAQs are often a good place to start: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

In particular have a look at the General Questions, which cover DOF/Forces and fundamentals of motion control: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/general-questions.1/category

    Plus the Design section: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/design-considerations-resources.24/category

We have a glossary for all those acronyms we tend to use, which will help you decipher some descriptions: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

Also have a look at existing member builds, that may help you refine your own project ideas: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Once you have perused the FAQs and member builds then feel free to ask questions on your build thread, the members here give freely of both their time and expertise.

Hello, my name is Vicen and I am from Spain, just from a town in Barcelona near the Formula 1 Circuit. I have an aluminum cockpit that I am modifying to do it with movement. I have purchased used two SCN5 actuators, one USB Devantech RS485 and everything needed to assemble it. I'll open a post to explain the advances. A greeting. (Sorry but I use the Google translator from Spanish to English ....)

Thanks Noorbeast, yeah I got frustrated on my 6dof project and shelved it for a good bit. Came across a different code for Sabertooth when it hit me. SMC3 was written for MonsterMoto, not the Fry's electronics motor drivers I had been using. New plans are to firstly get 2x60 driver, then find 2 proper gear motors with corresponding power supplies. If I can get a 2DOF to work, then I will triple those numbers and finally get this project a movin!

Hello, my name is Jeremy and I live in Canada. I am planning on building a motion sim (at least 3 dof with LOTS of traction loss). I play iRacing dirt with Oculus almost exclusively and would like to build something that would reproduce the geometry of a dirt late model. I also like road course stuff, so hopefully it can be flexible.
So far I have built a button box out of an old controller, iFlag, and the TH1638 dash indicator, but since going to VR I have no need for these peripherals. I have also been building and repairing musical effects pedals for 10 years and like working at the schematic level with electronics.
I've been lurking here for a few months and am looking forward to learning from everyone here.

    Hi all,

I'm Hervé from France and i'm building a 2dof seat mover with DC motors.
I'm 37 and got few knowledge in mecanics and electronics/electricity.

I'm powering it with a Sabertooth board.

I'll open a new topic to show you how is made my lowcoast simulator.

After several informations and recommandations from pcshm forum i've decided to use simtools.
At this time i just have a demo version and sounds good with lfs.
I'm planning to play with dirt and rrre and probably also rollercoaster for my familly to try the simulator.

    Regards.
    Hervé

@noorbeast, I am learning thanks to this forum and I will try to contribute with what I am doing, even if it is little compared to many of you, and I still have many doubts that I hope you can solve and thus help others. Although my language is in Spanish thanks to the Google translator, I hope I can manage, forgive me the mistakes of spelling and grammar. Thank you.

Gracias.

    Hi All

I stumbled across some arduino code on this site while working on a small robot for a class. then I started looking around as Ive been playing with LFS for a while. Mostly the outgauge stuff.

When my sons Aveo blew its engine we gutted it for parts before it got scrapped. I've already got the gauges working in LFS and he tested them with Beam NG too. So far all looks nice. I have some pics and video's I can post also got the warning light module working. Next is to put a fan in the dash ducts for wind.

We are making a complete cockpit and he asked me about making a tilt platform to go under it. Most sites lead me here. i thought about using hydraulics or pneumatics as I have some John Deere Loader cylinders in the garage but that seems overkill after looking at some of the designs here.

Still haven't decided on which direction to go. I do have some wheelchair motors and ATV winches to play with.

    Hi everybody,

I'm Daniel from Germany. Been playing with civilian flight sims on and off for the last 25 years. Recently discovered DCS and now I'm building a VR flight seat which I eventually want to put on a 3DOF motion platform. Trying to learn about the different actuator types with their pros and cons. This website is an absolute paradise to research setups and solutions that are actually within reach.

    Hello everyone,

I come from Belgium in the province of Luxembourg. I am a heating technician.
I'm a fan of car games ... I really enjoy karting.
My goal is to be able to manufacture with the help of your advice a 3DOF car simulator, RS seat, FANATEC steering system and 3 screens.

I hope to find all the answers to my questions because I start in the field and I hope to succeed in my project!
If someone has some leads / starting information to get started, I'm interested.

I flew over the different topics of the site to gather as much information as possible before starting!

Thanking you in advance for your help,

    Mikaël.

    Hi Guys,

I came to sim tools because my configuration is "pretty unique" according to simxperience.
Months and months that I am waiting for a version of sim commander to run both their DIY Rear Traction Loss and the GS-4.
I am quite pissed off with their Customer service...

I am a bit afraid of setting up sim tools and I will need some help.

In life, I am an Engineer in a FIA Euro Racing Team.

I mainly play on iRacing, but not so much recently because of this config problem

    See you soon.

    Thanks
