    Hello,

I am Michael from the Netherlands.hug:
I have NO experience in electronics, i am a welder (steel, stainless steel and aluminium).
I am going to try and build a seatmover because of the thight space in my "manecave;)"(attic).
My goal is to move my seat with 2 wipermotors and 2 motormonsters in a space not bigger then 1x1 meter max..(with as less money possible for me)
I have been looking for parts some time now, and found 2 wipermotors from a truck (24v) at my work for free.
I bought 2 motormonsters and a arduino uno clone via ebay.
A friend had 2 pots laying around...
    Already got my gamingseat.

    So...
Everything is going good so far...

I welded a base and a universal joint.
I contructed 2 "boxes" to hold the motors and pots...
I will bold the u-joint and the motor boxes to the base because this way i can change thing easy-er...
I will take pictures from the progress and post a update when i have done something...
I hope you enjoy this tread...:popcorn
    (that's a lot of I's;))

    as for the electronics...
I printed some housings for the 2 motormonsters and the 1 arduino...
i designed them to mount a 80mm fan on top for cooling...

next up is to measure my gamingseat COG (center of gravity ,i believe)and mount it to the base with the uni-joint...
then the "motorboxes" fitted with the pots...
i will update this tread when i did something new..

Nice looking rig. It reminds me of a stealth fighter. I would suggest heatsinks on those monster motos, I do like the big fan tho.

I really like your base. How did you cut the stock? Plasma or cutoff wheel, something else? This is a very clean build and I like that you're aiming to keep it within such a compact footprint. Great stuff :)

I'm still getting all of the sim configurations figured out so I gotta ask; what motions are you planning to simulate with this actuator setup? Pitch, maybe some yaw-ish motion?

    Hi
I used an anglegrinder for the funky parts an a "stationary circular saw" for the rest. (see picture, i don't know how its called in english).
    16872_small_1_2zaag.jpg Schermopname (1).png

As for motion : i am aiming for nice sharp crisp movement. not the big sway's left and right... just enough to feel the lean abit... My lever on the motor is 35 mm center/center so about 70mm up/down.
But i LOVE the gear changes and curbs alot:thumbs

You've got a lot of skill, that autoCAD drawing is very nice. I'm hoping to snag a copy of Solidworks for my work, but drafting is always the way to start. I think we're going for the same thing (short sharp motions) so I'll be watching your project closely! I too like the gear changes :D

Since your platform is quite high what do you plan to mount your controls to?

I like to sketch up first to prevent me of making it to big/funky/crazyo_O:)!!!
I learned how to draw myself with autocad first...then i went for solidworks... But then i found Inventor, and sticking with it!!!
My plan is to leave the pedals and steering wheel where they are... they are not fixed to the sim... (my little man wants to play to;)).
AND i have no space for a full sim...
IMG-1364.JPG ps (maybe i am going to fix the pedal/steer/shifter to my sim when i make my Tracktion loss) but i try this one first...:thumbs
