    Hello,

My name is Kevin and I live in SW Ohio (USA).

I have extensive flight sim experience using hardware from Flight Deck Simulations, and would like to build a reasonably-priced motion sim with at least 3 DOF. 6 DOF would be preferred, but the wallet... What ever I build, it should support a 300 lb person - not my weight but one never knows as one ages.

I only want to do this ONCE.

I am an engineering manager with 20 years experience in industrial robotics and PLC's, as well as industrial electrical and controls.

First, a huge shout out to everyone here - some of the things I've seen here are just, well, unbelievable. So much talent here that I'm honored just to be able to sign up.

    So, glad to be here!

    Kev

Hi, I’m Steve, from Hanford, California, USA. Recently retired and new Grandfather… so I get to start playing with toys again under the guise of someday passing along this knowledge to the Grandson.

This current obsession started with some VR goggles and remembering some roller coaster motion sims from years ago. Long story short, I won a PS4 on an auction and figured only to know driving games so I researched and got Dirt Rally. That was pretty fun, but it went to the next level, when I built a SIMUL8R Mk II PVC Rig and got a Thrustmaster T300 wheel. The immersion factor is just amazing, along with the force feedback of the wheel, I have an actual car seat and am using a 40in Sony Bravia (soon to be 60in 4K Samsung with a prominent scratch in the lower middle) and a soundbar and another bass thumping speaker.

Ever since, I found this site, I knew that a 2DOF platform motion sim will be the next level in this project. Thank you all for the information and the support that this community has given so generously.

Hello everyone, I'm glad that I found this community. Having a motion rig has been my goal for a while and with the resources and successful examples in the forum, I'll keep studying and soon I'd like to give it a go and put a rig together.

At this time, I'd like to start small and try to make a mock rig similar to @eaorobbie .

I already ordered some parts. Let's see how far this will go!

    Hi all,
    From Phillip Island Australia
Also very glad to have found this site. I am still at the early stages of planning my rig, also building a man cave to put the rig in. I worked as a Simulation technician in emergency service for a couple of years and was able to visit a number of commercial motion simulator businesses, were I got totally absorbed by the idea of building my own. The support and designs here is exactly what I was looking for and I hope I can contribute when I start my own design.

    Hey Guys,
My name is Greg and I am a member of the USA Skeleton (headfirst solo bobsled) Team. I have been using VR Racing as a training tool for almost a year now and have found that it is incredibly helpful. It started with a crappy computer and an old Xbox 360 wheel from Microsoft. It has turned into my first ever PC build (Amd FX series CPU and RX480 8gb GPU) rig running 4 screens. Then came the custom battle station chair. This led to the Thrustmaster T300 (although the Fanatec looks pretty impressive as well) Then came Oculus DK2 quickly followed by CV1. I am a lucky man and with my gf getting into the racing as well for training purposes, we just purchased a Prosimu T1000 3dof rig. (Merry Christmas to us). I've been trolling along here for a while and there seems to be an overwhelming amount of information kind of all over the place. I don't have any experience with SimTools so obviously I need to get up to speed on that. I was curious if anyone had any tips, tricks, advice, or any other pointers or thoughts of note that could provide helpful as my rig undergoes this upgrade and overhaul.

    Thanks

    Greg
