Fear not, this site is a gold mine of information and the members give freely of their time and expertise so should be able to help you sort your issues, which is likely just your lack of familiarity with SimTools and setting up motion profiles.

Hello folks! Found the forum while trying to find an affordable 6dof package online, might have to rummage through the threads here to see if anyone's built an affordable one that isn't terribly complicated. I race Dirt Rally, Assetto, and PCars 2, using an Oculus Rift...

    Welcome @Malacoda.

I look forward to hearing more about your 6DOF project plans, though keep in mind a 6DOF is somewhat of a complex first time project, not impossible, just do plenty of research first.

If you are seeking build, hardware and software information to get you started, then look in the FAQs: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

There is a specific 6DOF section in the FAQs, which would be a good place to start, particularly as a 6DOF is an ambition first project: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/6dof.22/category

You can also use the custom Google search box, which will bring up a plethora of 6DOF projects.

We have a glossary for all those acronyms we tend to use, which will help you decipher some descriptions: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Good luck with your 6DOF project.

Thanks, noor! I'm thinking you're probably right. Maybe I should tackle a 3dof first. Will spend the next few weeks reading up on it.

    Hi all,

I'm new and am working on a long-term project. Would like to build a 1:1 scale Spitfire sim pit using original drawings, sheetmetal and rivets. Rather than full-motion I want to get into a FFB setup with high control forces along with working panel gauges. I'm an arduino/Anet A8 printer user. Looks like this is the place to be!

    Hello Everyone,

I've been around in read-only mode for a while now, I thought is's high time I introduced myself.
My name is Marton. I work at a data center as technician in Hungary.
In the last couple of years I spent some of my spare time building a simulator that - in short - fits the furniture.
I took the challenge to build something that is wife-compatible and can be the center of a small one room apartment.
Having started the project almost 3 years ago and still not being single, I thought it's noteworthy enough to show my journey to a greater audience.
Being born in a post-communist, below average European country, I learnt the way to make use of as much junk as I can reach laying around.
This leads me to my point, why I'm really here. Honestly, I would like to start a thread of my build, in hopes of earning a DIY Simtools license.
However, while my sim has all but motion, I'm in trouble which group to start in. I'd be glad if someone could point me to the right direction.
My next upgrade will hopefully be a motion controller, soon.
    Peace.

I am from Sweden, my spelling is shit, thow 36 years old. Putting my english in google for help.

    Hi

Looking to build a sim and found this forum by way of Google. Not sure how many deg I will settle on. Might have some question on this after I read a lot more on this forum.
I have played with 80/20 in the past to that most likely will be what I build with. That is about the only
thing I am 99% positive that I will have at this point. Have yet to look into software/hardware (wheel, shifters, peddles) in a serious manor.

Off to do a lot a reading.
