Also what about motion ? will this just increase your fun factor but not your time.

    Cheers

i believe it makes you faster as its more immersive and not just looking at a flat screen. you can pre look into corners/apex etc.
I dont think my motion has any effect on speed, but increases fun factor. it also increases the immersion with the VR.
A good wheel and pedals can also make you faster

    As above

I found myself a lot quicker on some stages in dirt rally as I was able to really nail those hairpins.

I find the motion deffo makes me slower by quite a bit, VR probably quicker but it makes me slower because I get that immersed I don't wanna crash lol

I am 5-10 seconds faster in VR because you can better pick your brake points and look into a corner, though motion is like a real car, it adds to the realism but in compensating for all those forces it has an impact on your performance.

But VR, motion, quality peripherals and transducers/sound are about the closest thing to actually being in a car.

Ok guys had my Prosimu T1000 for 1 week and played for a few hours testing and trying to get some settings just right. Big ups to RTA Motorsports on his YouTube channel as he has put up some guidance to getting simtools 2.0 up and running.

I have put lots of hours in Assetto corsa and basically i am beating my previous best times with motion :) . I think it's down to really starting to feel what the car is doing and finding the best line through the corner. So happy that i basically have a VR room with race tracks from all over the world and any car to choose from to drive in my house. Oh and crashing in VR with motion is something else ha.

Hi, i see that you say you have transducers on your rig, i too have some picks that i was using with simvibe but i do not seem to be able to get the motion and transducers to run together as i normally use sim experience to launch Assetto Corsa but then that does not pick up motion from simtools and vice versa. I have the pro version of simtools so do i have to wait till vibe support arrives ? Any information would be great cheers.

You need to start a new thread in the commercial rig section for this, but members are running SimVibe and SiumTools on their rigs.

VR Also let you see everything about the surface conditions. Example my first attemp to Laguna Seca Let me Stand Up on the corkscrew.
Btw i can't use it due to sick feeling :(

For me VR makes it much faster and motion also make me faster because I can balance the car better

I think @SilentChill nailed it with the comment about VR upping the fear factor. When driving or flying the same thing happens to me. It's harder to get close to another plane/car because the fear factor comes into play and you have to get better, more precise, and used to it to get that close. But overall it makes me a better driver and pilot by a big margin.

for me, actions and atention its doble. More imersive, more real. So, if you want a real challeng, VR its awesome.

VR makes me drive more safely, especially with traffic, and eventually faster. Combined with my 2dof and 4 bass shakers it's very immersive. I only drive with this, whether or not faster.

haha. Read that thread nodding and agreeing :)

DIRT Rally has been the biggest game I have noticed an improvement in. I can't play the game on a flat screen now, and without motion, I'm missing the cues of the track. In VR I'm simply able to "see more", but as @SilentChill points out, you also don't want to crash, which (for me) amplifies the "will" to complete a clean stage. Looking at my Delta times I'm actually quite quick (especially on the Welsh stages)

It's totally unplayable without VR and motion for me now.

I made several comparisons during races and preparation of those in the ACRL. With VR I gain about 0.5 s per lap, which is huge. My GS4 seat does not make me any faster at all. But it does increase the fun factor. The really fast drivers in ACRL state, that motion sims make them slower, due to lack of response time. These guys are top notch and some of them are world class drivers. Sometimes real world race drivers practice in ACRL as well. They all state that they need a very good wheel and good padels. But everything else makes them slower.... I am not super fast, but I tend to agree to that.

Threw myself in DiRT rally again last night, and one sensation I had totally forgotten is that the human brain is amazing at "guessing" spacial presence.

In VR my sub conscious is fully aware of the rear of the car, so much so that when I handbrake turn into a corner with a gate on the exit I'm (painfully) aware of where that steel post is. That is the amazing part for me. Not only are my eyes seeing me sat in a cockpit, my brain is "building" the car around me. We do it every day in normal car situations, but to experience that in VR is quite amazing to me.

Actually your brain works the same way IRL and what VR does is exploit those perceptual and processing weaknesses:

Cracking video. @noorbeast I used to have a bad stammer till I was about 21 and used the technique at the end of that video to cure myself. I'm now fluent with any word by saying the same word, but presenting it to my vocal chords differently. (as per the bar/far video)
