This is perhaps a portent to the future, a VR car building experience...who is up for building a similar immersive motion rig tutorial :grin

Medical students use similar computer simulations. VR will increase the realism.
I home mechanics type game would be great for doing basic mechanical work at home! I would love to learn how to rebuild a engine

@noorbeast What do you think the main value would be. i.e. what is the basic things we could teach/learn in VR? I'm not disagreeing just wondering what the main objectives would be. I'm new but have a lot of experience putting VR training material together. I'm about to start building my own 6DOF rig and was thinking I may be able to save myself some headache by making a virtual prototype.

@noorbeast, What do you think putting a VR sim together would help with? I'm about to start my own 6DOF rig and thought I might be able to save some time / money by working through things in VR first. I have a lot of experience putting VR training together and wondering what key objectives and results you think could be achieved by doing it in VR first.

My comment was really about the value of learning how something goes together before spending any money, the trouble is that there are a lot of different motion rig designs and hardware possibilities. So it really suits commercial rigs rather than DIY.

It would only be useful if done with the sort of detail that has gone into this car project, though the development time for that has been years. That sort of intense development time will be reduced as new types of tools are released and become affordable, like quality hand held 3D scanners.
