    Hi all,
Just registered here, I'm an absolute noob at this stuff and have recently purchased a bass shaker and amp, I'm hoping to hook it to my chair and if all goes well get a nice bucket seat and get a relatively small project underway, I'm really excited as too where it will lead too :), I play project cars mainly and can't wait to have a more immersive expierince...
Anyhow gonna read up lots and try to learn as much as possible!

    Hi all,

Mike from Massachusetts (USA) here. I don't think I've ever posted, although I joined a little while ago. I was in "research mode" for a good while before I started building anything. I was looking into the various software options, both free and paid and couldn't decide. I was already using X-Sim for just bass shakers with iRacing, so when the time to start building a 2DOF wiper motor based motion rig came, I just stayed with that. I now have a working rig, and it's pretty awesome. However, I've read enough to know that Simtools is said to be betternsoftware. I'm happy to pay full price to support the effort, but I'm also going to post the details of my rig here so that others can benefit from what I've learned from folks on this and other forums.

As of right now, the thing preventing me from pulling the trigger and purchasing Simtools is that it is unclear whether it supports bass shakers or not. I couldn't imagine racing without engine vibrations etc...

Anyhow, I look forward to getting to work posting my project!
    - Mike

    Welcome @Michael Keymont.

Game Vibe is being developed for SimTools but has not been released, this is the most recent update on progress: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/gamevibe-any-news-of-release-date.10243/#post-132083

When you are ready please start your own project thread here and post some details about your 2DOF wiper powered rig, I and others would be most interested in it: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

There are eligibility criteria but owners of DIY rigs can apply for a free DIY copy of SimTools, though Game Vibe and other addons do need the Pro version of SimTools: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/request-a-free-diy-simtools-2-0-license.262/

    Thanks @noorbeast !!
I have a functioning rig, so I can wait for GameVibe to be ready and I'll be ready with my checkbook when it is! Adding motion to my racing rig is one of the coolest things I've done since getting into sim racing, so I'm eager to give back to the community that helped me figure it all out.

I'll be updating my build page (already started!!) with details and pictures over the next week or so. One more post to the forums and I'll be able to post a link to a youtube video of the rig in action!!

Hi - total novice here although at 52 I have plenty of real world driving experience.

I have only just got into real sims after playing with GT on Playstation for years.
I have just started using AssettoCorsa with a TM500 and triple screen setup and already want to step up to a full motion rig.

I would like to build my own and have a basic design in mind and can easily build the structure but have absolutely no idea about the electronics, mechanicals and software required so I am here to read and learn.

I haven't seen anything quite like what I have in mind but it will be based on gyroscope system with the 3 circles inside each other. I am thinking a servo motor to direct drive each pivot.

Anyway gonna read up and see what I can find.

    Cheers
    Ken

Welcome @niterida, yet another compatriot Aussie joins the motion fold, you will find we have quite a few members down under :thumbs

Even though you have some out of the box design ideas do have a look at existing member builds, that may help you refine your own project ideas: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

You will find plenty to get you started in the FAQs, from design software, dimension of sims, to PSUs, pots, motors, JRKs, Arduino code and Motor Monsters, plus heaps more: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

Feel free to ask questions on your build thread, the members here give freely of both their time and expertise. It would be a good idea to bounces unusual design ideas off existing members before diving too deep into unknown territory.

    Good luck with your project.

I love sim racing, but i am a fresh man in simulatir DIY

    now to introduce myself:
My name is GuaGua. I have basic knowledge of electronics, computer coding, good craftsman skills.

I`m ready to build my own racing simulator, it would be 2DOF solution with viper motors.
    Hope everything will be OK.

    Howdy!

Just joining here as I just finished my aluminum profile based sim rig w/ bass shaker... love it! BUT I WANT MORE! I'm running an HTC VIVE VR system, simvibe, and an additional arduino based Shake It software to run vibe motors on the pedals. I dove into Assetto Corsa and can't get enough. Now to my wife's frustration I want to build a motion rig. I really don't know what level DOF I want or need but I want to build something that won't make me sorry I didn't go even further. This looks like the place to be!

    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi all,

I am 29 and live down the bottom of the world in New Zealand. I have been around real world motorsport all my life and sim racing for about 10 years. I have currently got a DIY custom built rig sporting triple monitors and lots of DIY goodness including arduino builds and lots of 3D printing. Hard to find and buy things cheaply in NZ so more fun and cost effective to self build.

I have known about this website/forums for a few years but have never been ready to go DOF but now is the time. Looking to put my whole current rig on a 2DOF motion platform using the Arduino/wiper motor theory. Lots of information on here and its just a matter of getting down to the right stuff i am looking for. Glad to be apart of the community!

    Cheers

Hi, my name is Andrew, I am a 33 y, I live in Poland ( EU ), working as IT programmer / manager. I have a Flightseat chair with peripherials which I wish to extend by a 3DOF motion.
From programming exp. I built an intelligent house basic solution based on Arduino [ + 433 Mhz module communication for a wall plug, + IR ], a 3D game simulator in J2ME ( helicopter simple combat sim ). I am a huge fan of VR ( since Ocukus DK2, now using the CV1, and waiting for a 4K solution, + owns a PSVR ). From 1 year a 3D printer fan, which helps with many of my projects. My biggest hobby is still R/C cars and helicopters, but mostly concentring on building fuselages [ couple of AH-64 - 450,500,700 sizes ]. Basically I love to fly, with couple of hours exp. on Glyder and Cessna - so in a free time trying to do what I love in a VR ( now hoping that will improve with a motion :) to make things better. Started a thread of my own try / build - hoping that many more experienced friends will help if possible. Cheers !

    hi
started racing sims 3 years ago
made my own shifter and clutch from an old joystick as I'm using dfgt
now its time for a (very low budget ;) ) 2dof motion seat
Arduino uno + controller +wiper motor
new to forum and Arduino but I think all the info I need is here ,thanks :)
