are you sure thats not the wrong way around speedy? draw on the three phase side is less than the single phase side not more.

excellent job, but out of curiosity what it cost to build this type of platform?

Thanks, basic parts for wormgear lever type platform 4-5k, then however much more you want to spend.
Or you could go servo motor route with no need for VFD's, would be more.
Or you could go AC motor/Servo motor custom linear actuator route.

DC linear actuator route is much cheaper and I would think just as good or possibly even better for VR racing, if that solution was known before I started this build I would have likely gone that route first. However if you want larger range of movement maybe for flight or to mount a full cockpit with more weight or don't want to use VR (why wouldn't you its awesome!) then maybe AC is better.

I don't have a DC rig to compare, at least not at the moment ;)

Good info in the link speedy, all I know is my sim is less than 40 amps as it never trips, but for someone starting a build that would be very useful for calculation.
when I was buying cable, switches etc I just though take 3phase draw eg 5 amps and multiply by 3 for single phase side, that should cover it :)

The manual advised 30amp fuse for my vfd but they must have a large safety margin for stall.

Again putting each VFD on its own MCB just makes it really easy for isolation but definitely not necessary as you say.

The wheel button plates from the great design in this thingy don't fit my wheel:

    http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1678086

So started to make a custom one

    Custom plate 1.jpg

hoping to include a thumb stick if the blue UHID supports it, so I can control the mouse cursor for assetto corsa menus

Good idea though as using mouse in AC is a pain the arse and I forget about it all the time it goes flying off the rig, mines smashed and been superglued too many times

lol NP, yep i use a small wireless HTPC keyboard with a track pad, I have a strip of hook and loop velcro on the back and a bit on my platform so the keyboard just stays put but its still a pain in arse having to scramble for it everytime i want to restart a session etc so thought the thumbstick would be a very handy option.

    Thanks Nick thats really helpful,

Erm i think i might need a few more buttons on my wheel :)

I didnt notice an option in the blue UHID to send a string, only a single key stroke,

    if we could send ie:
    /restart_session
    EDIT: Or CTRL+O

with a button press that would be really handy, could probably do it through joy to key if not through uhid config tool.

OK read the uhid manual a bit more, you can programme multiple key presses through the macros.

Ive ordered a thumbstick now so will still probably incorporate that on my wheel but some of those keyboard shortcuts programmed to buttons
will make life so much easier, thanks again for the heads up Nick.

Still don't understand why they couldn't add menus navigation through the arrow keys or something but no matter.
