    Hello,

I just bought 2 of this recently to replace another USB to serial Adapter :
USB to Serial RS232/UART RS485/TTL DB9 Adapter Converter Module FTDI FT232BM/BL

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/331753409742?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Connection was made from SCN5 using 9 pin serial port harness (RS232) which worked perfectly using a different USB adaptor (frex Motion-2)
Installed the driver manually. However, I did not get any initialization when opening Simtools Game Engine
I also tried to connect the SCN5 directly to the blue terminal (Ground A,B) ( see picture) and no luck.

Am I missing a step somewhere?

Have you installed the correct FTDI drivers?

Yes, I did so manually as recommended by the website.
I have one adaptor working now. It is the one that is connected via rs485, previously, I forgot to re-position the jumpers on the adaptor to reflect that.

However the one connected via rs232 still does not work.

That may be a cable issue due to the pins. i bought 9 pin cables and they were wrong. i cant remember what they were, but the pin connections were different. in the end i just used usb

It seems at this moment, I could not make the adaptors work with rs232 port(9pin)
I will have to cut the harness and connect them to the rs485 terminals, which works fine.
