Ok so I'm just starting out designing my first simulator and although I have access to AutoCAD Inventor via a work laptop, I have read that SketchUp is the preferred method to openly share our designs. To automate these designs the Sketchyphysics plugin is commonly used.

However it looks like Sketchyphysics is now depreciated and has been replaced with MSPhysics? Sketchyphysics only works with 32 bit versions of SketchUp and the link to the plugin appears to be broken (at least it was tonight whilst attempting to download).

So my question is whether or not I should now use MSPhysics instead of Sketchyphysics?

Having searched the forum I've found several posts relating to how to install and use Sketchyphysics, the two posts listed below also provide downloads...
Had to remove because post was being treated as spam!!

Therefore I am able use the older plugin and will install it so that I'm able to preview some of the many designs already posted on the forum whilst deciding which style would be best suited to my requirements.

But if I succeed in designing a simulator which is the preferred plugin to use?

Yes I've used that FAQ post and also another very similar thread. I also started a Sketchyphysics tutorial which I'm hoping to finish tonight.

Thank you for answering my PM, I was confused by the download charge alert which was listed under your name. I mistakenly thought that you had veiwed this post and some how downloaded something for which I was charged 10 coins. Talk about being confused!!!
I now realise that the Sketchyphysics files I downloaded must have been posted by yourself and this is the reason for the alert.

It also makes sense that I can't post links on my first few threads, I assumed it would be an anti-spam policy. Hopefully it won't last for too long.

But I still feel that my original question is unanswered... I intend to learn and use Sketchyphysics so that I can assess some of the designs already available on the forum thanks to its kind users. But if I suceed in creating something new should I post it using the newer MSPhysics plugin?

Yes there are some initial restrictions on new members to prevent spam.

MSPhysics has not been tested so stick with the current working plugin and configuration.

Hi, I am trying to download the 32bit version of SketchUp but the link isn't working. Instead it's downloading a "linkexpired.html" file. I have also searched online and on the official site for 32bit version but no luck. So I am guessing the only way right now is to go with instructions for MSPhysics by @pillowsack?

You would need to scour the net for an old 32bit version of Sketchup, or go with MSPhysics, as Trimble no longer hosts it, even on their old version page.

If you just want to experiment, and don't need to actually model a rig, then use the 2DOF virtual simulator: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/simulating-a-2dof-simulator.278/

I went with the MSPHysics and Sketchup Make 2017. It seems to be working. I am now going to try to connect it with Simtools :) I am planning on a 6DOF system (but might also consider a 3DOF, not sure yet will have to see). I already have rough design in my mind for a 6DOF but wanted to sketch it before making any other decisions. I am also going to make a small prototype to see how my code works with simtools.
