Traction loss - a different idea I have in my head.

    Im trying to calculate now how long my arm needs to be length wise, using a double arm joint to move me the right amount side to side, Im thinking like 3 to 5 inches each direction

    I personally wouldn't go less than 4" per side at Bare minimum, V2 rig for me will be substantially more.

    I think there comes a limit on the mechanical side, but i would say max of 14-16"

    Did you get a 25 or 50:1 ?

    50:1, Im 240 plus the frame that will pivot is made of steel.

    Wow 14" I didnt think most swayed that much.

    Is there and info oin planning out the arms in the bet manner from motor to rig for the pivot?

    A bunch of 80/20 delivered at thome today so maybe this weekend should the kids allow it! Plus Monday is a holiday so thats an extra day!

    I chose a more conventional approach. Pivot point is a pillow block IMG_5825.JPG
    and the rear bearings are stud mounted ball transfer 1" dia. They run on top of 1/2" plates of UHMW hih impact. If grooves get formed with use, they can be reversed to extent the life.

    I was thinking about using these casters , 2 in front and 2 in the back. Im using 30 series 80/20 now So I think these would low profile and line up well with my lazy susan I purchased

    I will no longer be suggesting lazy susans for TL, Mine has started to make some noises as of late, Ya not terribly loud noises or anything and it's not like its going to out right fail, but the "track" isn't 100% filled with balls, there's a gap so they don't Bind on each other...well when all the balls line up on one side and you get a Full Travel movement from 1 side to the other, you can often Hear the balls doing their thing and all moving in unison....I thought about adding some oil to the ball track, but haven't gotten around to it. I would assume there is some light thin oil already....tho maybe not.


    Either way, Pillow Block bearing's from now on for sure...easier to mount and easier to separate the 2 frames If ever needed.

    YEh I bought 2 of those but got 1" and they are way too big.


    ok just ordered a 1/2" ID 4 hole. I can take the lazy susan back to lowes tomorrow.

    On a side note, 80/20 hardware is way too expensive. I found that using square nuts was far more affordable.
