I just had word that Santa has fired up the sleigh and is headed to the international date line, somewhere around Samoa, ready for a world wide tour. For those who need it here is the official Norad Santa tracker: http://www.noradsanta.org/

Seriously though I know we have many members from around the world who have a diverse range of views and beliefs. Irrespective of what those may be I would like to pass on end of year seasons greetings to yourselves, and those who you hold near and dear.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to the Xsimulator.net community. All members have contributed in a vast array of ways and I am constantly amazed by the originality and ingenuity you all bring to your many and varied projects.

This year seems to have been one where more complex projects have become the norm, with a vast increase in 3, 4 and 6DOF rigs. DIY actuators have been gaining in popularity, thanks to the innovative work of @SeatTime, who blazed the DIY actuator trail, with @wannabeaflyer2 picking up the mantel and providing a very detailed guide and downloadable plans for building your own linear actuators. Hard core direct drive wheels got a whole lot easier to get into with the SimuCUBE force feedback controller. The other biggie for 2016 has been the release of first gen consumer VR, with many more members jumping on the VR motion sim bandwagon.

I guess it fair to say that plugin breakages have been a bit of a 2016 downer for some, but that is because the plugin stalwarts like @yobuddy have been beavering away creating over 50 new plugins for SimTools 2.0. So rather than grumble lets be grateful that the wait is almost over and most of your favorite plugins are all set to go once SimTools 2.0 launches.

SimTools 2.0 is nearly out of Beta, with the first Release Candidate being just around the corner. Thanks go to @yobuddy and all the 2016 Beta testers, plus a special mention for @eaorobbie, who is currently toiling away to create the official documentation.

Once SimTools 2.0 is released @yobuddy will focus on the new tools to go with it, like video motion, transducer support and so much more. So 2017 should be a really exciting year for our community, with all sorts of new functionality for members to get creative with.

And I have to say the ever increasing activity of this community never gets dull, there is always a new idea and new project. The ingenuity of members is just astounding!

So wherever you are and whatever you may be doing many thanks for being a part of this vibrant community and I wish you all the best for the festive season and new year, I expect it to be one of endless possibilities and amazement.

Yes a tireless effort from the development team in the build up for the release of V2 (unless you have been involved in the release of software you cannot believe the amount of work involved) and the Zen like qualities of @noorbeast for always pointing newbees in the right direction. I wish everyone a great new year and lets see if we cannot push the boundaries of simulation just that little bit further :).
