    Yes change them !

Sorry my answer to your question was very vague in my thread, you need to look to see what actuators we have made they do not use stepper motors, you should of looked through my thread you would of seen they are brushed DC motors to make DIY actuators

actuators wont help me as i need a very light and compact design to be able to fly around the world with me so say 25kilo tops with motors, many thanks for the reply though

    Hi Guys!

My name is Rodrigo. I'm from Brazil but now i'm living at Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego.

I'm a great fan of racing and simulation and i'm planning to build a 2dof simulator + arduino, moto monster shiled and wiper motors as my first project. I decided to start with arduino beacause here is very limited to buy eletronics parts so as i have an arduino and learning electronic and programming as hobby, why not to build my own simulator?

i'm very excited to learn more about sim.

I hope i can starting building ASAP and i'm sure i will be here asking for help.

Sorry about my english. Still learning.

    Best Regards

    Welcome @Rtorni.

Have a look at existing member builds, that may help you refine your own project ideas: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

You will find plenty to get you started in the FAQs, from design software, dimension of sims, to PSUs, pots, motors, JRKs, Arduino code and Motor Monsters, plus heaps more: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

We have a glossary for all those acronyms we tend to use, which will help you decipher some descriptions: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Feel free to ask questions on your build thread, the members here give freely of both their time and expertise.

    Good luck with your project.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. My nickname is cruzebabuze and I am also a huge arcade fan. For the last 2 years I have been burying old sega motion arcade and converting them to motion sim. Check out my blogs on this forum for more info on the conversions. I have converted a g-loc deluxe motion cabinet into a full fledge motion sim and simply love it. I race formula f600 so I set up my sim just like my car with same brake and throttle and steering. It was a long process but it paid off huge, I shaved lots of time on the track because of it. The main advice I can give your ditch the screen for a VR googles, I did and I never went back since. I also did a motorcycle one using sega Harley full size rig, and I love playing trials games with it. Right now I am finishing a sega Daytona mod. Check out my blogs for more info on conversion, another advice is to use an arduino Leonardo to control arcade wheels, buttons, brake and throttle pedals, its cheap, easy to do and give great results.

I have been lurking for a while and finally joined. I want to start building a seat mover and mod later to get traction loss. First project will be getting a 3D printer up and running to make some of the smaller parts for my SimRig. Lots of great people in this community that seem willing to help with advice and different ways of doing things.

I'm new here, I'm from Brazil. I have been researching about car simulators for a few months, and I found this site on the Net. I have basic knowledge in electronics and programming, I have almost all the material to do a 2dof simulator.

I would like everyone's help, thank you in advance.

Too late, my stepper motors were shipped and I have them now. I could send them back, but they are nice little motors that could easily be use for other projects. They will be ok to help me understand the connection with the drivers/plugins/softwares to make them turn.
I had read all your thread, and I still believed you were using stepper motor. That tells a lot about my knowledge of motors and terms about them.
So far, every time I post, I end up learning that I'm doing everything wrong. Like my father would say every time I would hurt myself: "The skill is getting in."
Until now, only my ego was hurt.

Unfortunately they are not even good for that, as Simtools does not support them out of the box (IMO from tests that I have done, steppers are too noisy for a sim anyway :D). You would have to setup specific hardware/controller with end-stop micro switches and write code to drive and 'home' the steppers. Nothing like that is available on this site.
A smart man learns from his mistakes, start a Project thread and put all this behind you.

    Hello comrades !!
    Greetings from Argentina.
I was racing for years in prototype sport in this country, but the prices increased a lot and I had to leave the races.
So I have as goal to build a 3dof to have sensation of loss of grip.
Is there a single guide to doing this job?

    thank you very much

Welcome, you have come to the right place, the members here are friendly and give great advice.

There is not a single guide, as there are a number of design considerations and approaches to traction loss, see here for some of them: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/traction-loss.174/
