One of the really cool things you can easily do with the Vive is create mixed reality greenscreen video, where you mix game and real world action, here is a V8 Supercar example at Bathurst:

I just had 3 rolls of 3x9m green screen material delivered this morning to do some mixed reality with the Vive, but that is for an art based project.

Perhaps at some point in the future I can set my sim up in the Vive tracked space in my lounge, or set the Vive up in the sim room, to do some driving mixed reality.

@noorbeast Having done a fair bit of it myself all you have to remember when it comes to Green Screen shooting is Lighting, followed by Lighting and then a bit more lighting. :)

Gee @noorbeast , that takes me back to the days when I use to develop software for stop motion and other applications (some military). I have a big non reflective green screen rolled up in the attic. Sourced many years ago from a specialist company in the USA. FI, This looks like the one http://chroma-key.com/21-foam-backed-screens - stops the green from the background reflecting back onto the subject - worked very well if I remember and made setting up the lighting not so critical.

i had the oportunity to use green screen for a profesional project. and let me tell you that at least in my case, using adobe tools (wich are famose to be good) it was a nigmare untill we used 8 fluorescent light tubes...

so... i guess it wont be that easy :( (maybe with some special software trick, but i would better try to use some tracking for fingers insteed of green screen)

Thanks for the fluorescent light tip @ferslash.

How mixed reality for the Vive is done uses the SteamVR 3rd camera option to track the camera in three dimensional space, and mixes the game and person in the green screen view.

so you can actually set it up to stream the the headset @noorbeast ? i thought that most of those guys on youtube attach a small camera to one side of the vr headset and edit the video after, they can't actually see their hands and steering wheel etc.. while they're playing

The guys with Rifts use a camera on the headset and manually mix video.

But with the Vive you can use software that pretends it is a third controller locating a fixed camera in the 3D space, or an actual third controller strapped to a video camera that you can then move around in a 3D space to shoot the footage, and with either do mixed reality in real time: http://uploadvr.com/make-mixed-reality-video-livestream-two-realities/

If you use 2 computers you can even live stream a mixed reality video, though it is a bit complicated:

Can you see live on the vive or the cv1 as you play is there a programme that it can go thru so it's converted before the headset so you see hands n wheel while playing the actual games in the vr space you playing .
Or is it just for video editing side of things as a mixed play bk option for making videos and not game applicable in the headset itself live.

Mixed reality is generally aimed at video production @f1iceman.

What you are describing would require an in-game overlay. SteamVR is capable of such an overlay but I have never seen configured to do anything except a window within a game.
