I bought over / was given by my friend a seat mover:

This is my current racing rig :

I would like to integrate and improve / upgrade the seat mover with additional traction motion (3 axis) into my Rig.

    My Motion Simulator:
    DC motor
What I am trying to achieve :
3 Dof Simulator hopefully Similar to Simxperience stage 4 .
(I am not looking for extreme movement, just looking for quick and precise/ small movement feedback for Iracing & AC .)

    Problem I am facing :
    1. Gearbox with a lot of free play
Solution : Use Shims (Read it from Nick Moxley thread)
    2. Change of potential meter and Change the location of potential meter
    Solution : not known yet
    3. Reduce the seat height of the current seat mover
    Solution : not known yet
    4. Change position of the Motor
    Solution : not know yet
    5. Add the 3rd DOF
    Solution : not known yet

It will be great if anyone can help and advice me =)

    Thanks

Here is some existing traction loss information: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/traction-loss.174/

As traction loss involves a top and bottom frame you may want to consider cannibalizing your existing compact simulator for parts and converting it into a shoulder mount frame design.

You could use Hall sensors instead of pots and mount them directly to the motor shaft with a flexible coupling: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/how-to-connect-protect-a-potentiometer.13/

Have a slight amount of forward weight pre-load on the motors and replace the rose joints with tie rod ends should help with the play, though there will always be some with wormdrive gearboxes.

Hi noorbeast , thank you for your prompt reply.
I will read up on it tonight

I am planning to convert it to a shoulder mount frame design.
For sure I have to cannibalising and make use of everything thing I have currently

I have 420mm of movement at the back wheels, I haven't converted that in to degrees. I think I could go up to around 500mm but 420mm already is tons. As Noorbeast said, most rigs are 200-300mm

    Hello Guys

How do you guys secure your shafts to the worm gear box?

Did you use the two grub screw slot? Will it be enough ?
I am about to lathe a new shaft out.

    Thanks =)
