    Hi All,

    Well I decided to jump right into the deep end of the pool. I am building a 6 DOF AC motor driven platform. Not sure how much interest there is so here is where I am right now. Let me know what you think. 24980266246_1aa136711c_o.jpg

    Here the dimension I did in Soildworks.

    The levers are 160mm center to center and the rods are 630mm center to center. I am using 3/4hp with 80:1 gearboxes

    Here is another view. The ends are bolted to the drive rails. That way I can move it should I have to. Not sure of the total weight but it's not light

    Guys I can testify t0 the awesome amount of detail GA-dawg has published about this project . if ever there was a step by step write up of how to build a 6dof Sim platform this would be right up there, the stuff posted is just a taster , Contact GA-dawg for the link you wont be disappointed ... yes its Ac stuff but there's lots to learn and info that can be transported to smaller scale projects ,.. His is a well thought out and detailed build log ...

    No im not his PR spokesman LOL I just recognised a great project with the information presented in DIY project builders language take a lookie see :) .. you wont be disappointed

    To be honest I did not know how many people where on the other forum and didn't want to do to much cross posting. Just for the record I am really interested in DC as well but given my background/experience I went with the AC route. Once this platform is 100% complete I will be building a DC setup for a friend of mine.

    GA-dawg these Guys know their stuff and it gets better by the day , so when your looking for DC sims this is the place to be... Software/Hardware/Brainware its all here . did not mean to step out of line , just wanted the guys to see the good work you did.. its all good knowledge that benefits the members, so my take on this is that it does not matter where it comes from , so long as it ends up here , then we all benefit :)

    For anyone wanting to build a DC or AC 6DOF those diagrams are perfect start for anybody.

    Would it be possible to provide a price list and links for where you got your motors and controllers from if its not too much trouble :)

    @SilentChill and everyone else,

    Be more than happy to share. Let me first start off by saying that I am no expert but in conversations with a number of people it seams fair to say that a AC 6 DOF will cost at a minimum of 5K (US). So it's not the cheapest option (not by a long shot) but after reading a number of threads IMHO it would seam to be easier to make.

    So if there is still interest I would be happy to share but it would seam that most on the board are far more capable than myself at figuring out the electronics needed to make a 6 DOF at a much cheaper cost (just finished reading your thread and it's very impressive).
