Welcome @daddyde, another ussie joins the fold!

You have come to the right place for DIY motion simulation software, information and support from a very active community.

If you are building a motion simulator for racing then you would be better of with traction loss not yaw, they are actually 2 different things. See here for details on traction loss: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/traction-loss.174/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here, as I and many other members would be interested in following your progress: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Feel free to ask questions, there is a very active community here that is good at giving tips during planning, reviewing purchase lists, giving feedback and encouragement during the build and providing advice on actually sorting out motion profiles.

    Good luck with your project.

    Hi everybody,
I introduce myself at you on xsimulator because my hobby is automotive racing, I have a Logitech G27 stering wheel for some years, and I thinking for some times to do a diy simulator...
Now I think that it's the time for me to pass to the next step...
    Build a motion car simulator.
So let's go ! We go to try to do it ! :thumbs

Thanks to everybody that have contributed on this community, also good, to guys that help people that want to learn , than the people that have does the programing of SimTools software.
Thank for have share your knowledge and to make that this dream of child to have a motion simulator at home is possible for lot of people through you!
Good Job ! Thanks for all and continue to share.
(Sorry if my english is bad, i'm french)

Hey everyone, I've been around reading and finally got a post started here. I've always been into sim racing on the PC as long as I can remember but haven't taken it up seriously until about two years ago. I have a static rig made of wood which you can see here.

I'm looking forward to building this new seat mover with traction loss and looking to contribute from my experience towards any newbies that come along (like me). Thanks to everyone that makes this a very helpful community.

    Hi,

My name is Michael. I am new to the community and new to motion simulators. I use the x-plane 10 simulator software for flying and I am hoping to [someday] build a motion flight simulator where my [saitek cessna] yoke and rudder pedals can [also] control the pitch and roll of a a joyrider motion sim. I am looking forward to getting tips and pointers from the community. I have looked at several simulator build posts and videos on the site and they all look really amazing!

I have purchased the joyrider virtual flyer plans because it looked like it moved pretty smoothly and seemed that many simulator builds were based on it. One [of many] things that I am confused about is the interface modifications that would need to be done in order to integrate the pitch and roll data from x-plane software to motors that would be able to move the joyrider. I believe I would need the SimTools and the associated x-plane plugin. Would I need an arduino board or something that controls the motors?

    Thanks,
    Michael.

    Welcome @Michael Pettenato.

You will find a huge amount of inspiration in existing projects and more specific build related information via the FAQ section: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

It is best to please start your own build thread here, so all of your questions and member responses are in one place for easy reference: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Yes you will need SimTools, the x-plane plugin and control boards like the Arduino or JRKs to control the motors, but first spend a bit of time researching, asking questions of the members and then plan your project.

    @HAUSTAN,
Bienvenue, maintenant que tu t'es présenté, je te conseil d'ouvrir ton propre post en détails sur la fabrication de ton simulateur ici:
    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

    HAUSTAN,
Welcome, you are now presented , I advise you to open your own post with details of making your simulator here:
    http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

I'm French too and understand you perfectly, but I give you the advice I got myself, so that everyone can follow your project and even help you if you need, paste a translation of your text with Google translation under your text in French ...
Do not hesitate to contact me if you think I can help you.

    Hello and thanks,
You've all been a useful reference to help build up ideas, yes I am planning a 3DOF, flight simulator mainly [want to see if I can buzz the grand canyon] but will have race sims in the back of my mind. I am ok with CAD and engineering [I have to be its my job] with a few Ardino project under my belt as well.
Will look at raising a project record for you all, I hope I can help as much as I'm helped...
Phase 1 Will be cad models,
Phase 2 Is servo controlled model [3D print], running in game SimTools.
Phase 3 Lets be honest I've got to get past phase 2 before I start investing larger bucks.

Loads of questions, pneumatic vs. electric vs. motor cams. do I make it 2 seats!? But we can all talk about that later - HELLO

    @Mars Buggy,
Welcome, if you have already made your own 3D printer look like a Prusa i3 or derived? If you choose electric motors as motion power? Dont worry. You have widely the possibility to achieve a functional simulator without big difficulty because the approach of motors wiring and programing of firmware between twice are very similar.
    Good luck for your project.
    Regards.
