Hi, im a "veteran" in the world of flightsimulation but completely new in the world of motion sims. I am now looking to build a 2dof motion platform for FSX or Prepar3d. So far it had been a steep learning curve but slowly all information is starting to make sense...

looking forward to exchange information here.

    Welcome @Peter van den Esschert.

It is indeed a steep learning curve but there is both a wealth of information here and a very active community with members that freely give of their time and expertise.

You will find the FAQ section covers many detailed build related topics: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

We have a glossary for all those pesky acronyms we tend to use, which will help you decipher some descriptions: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

    Good luck with your project.

    thnks Noorbeast,

so far i have figured out i am going to build a sim flyer. i think its the ideal as a flightsimulator platform in conjunction with the upcomming Oculus Rift.

i have looked at BFF motion software wich is specificaly for fsx/prepar3d. but that is 3dof only. i also looked at x-motion software but it lookd quite complicated.

i think that the sim tools software has the perfect combination in userfriendly and complexity.

btw: how many points do i need for downloding the fsx plugin?

Are there any motion platforms that ship with the SimTools software?

The SimTools developer @yobuddy has indicated that the next version of Simools will make provision for commercial use, by manufacturers or individuals who want to use SimTools with a commercial rig they own.

So @Linkup I suspect yes would be the likely answer after the next version release, though @yobuddy has not yet advised when that will be.

Not yet, it will be up to the supplier to either sell with commercial licence or the provision of the unit being able to run various softwares

    Welcome @Jun

Building your own motion simulator is both challenging and fun. There is a great deal of information available in the member build section and FAQs, so have a good look around as that may help give you some ideas for your own project.

    Hi there!!

I am new here and received my Buttkicker Gamer2 just yesterday, and came across this software! I would like to use it in driving simulations like Assetto Corsa, Project Cars and Dirt Rally, but also in Flightsims like DCS World A10C and FlightSimX.

I am really looking forward to see the difference of using just plain audio signal or using telemetry data and a seperate soundcard for controlling the buttkicker :)

Have a nice day, greetz from austria!!

Hello, are you planning on building a motion ride? Or just using the sound vibration side of software?

As for now, i just want to see what could be possible with a buttkicker, but in the future, i think i will start to build a motion simulator or something :) I already thought about building a cockpit for flightsims, but its SOOO expensive...wow..... and i can´t deside which plane, haha, if its going to be a 737, or a A10C, or maybe a helicopter...? Or a Car-Racing Rig?? So many decisions, but one step after another hehe...

As for now, i am using a TrackIR System, the Buttkicker Gamer2, 2x MFDs from thrustmaster, a Switch-Panel and a Logitech 940 set for my sim-flights, and for racing i use a Logitech G27, ahh and not to forget i use 3D Vision with googles, its great in many games :) Really looking forward to Oculus Rift i think thats one of the next steps...

Oh and could someone please send me the plugin-file for Project Cars and/or Assetto Corsa?? I would really like to test out the difference between standard setup (no software) and using XSimulator... and I dont want to spend 40€ just to find out that its not what i´m looking for....if its really that great (as i hope its going to be :) ) i will surely try to reach my 250 points and engage here in the forums to help supporting this thing or buy the Gold feature, as i need much more plugin-files anyway for my other games like FSX and DCS and and and :)

Thx alot and have a nice day everyone!

Woooah thank you soo much for that, i will instantly try it with project cars :) Thanks mate i owe you a full box of beer :D

I have some professional external audio-interfaces right here (i am an audio-engineer), like Digidesign´s Mbox2 & Native Instruments Audio6, do you think this is going to work or do i have to buy something "special" to get it working?

    Thx :)

And as soon as i start building my pit i will start a thread, but i think it will be taking some time now, as i just bought my Audi TT hehe :D
