    Thanks, that's really informative.
I have no idea what Atomic use as load compensation, I'm going to use plain spring.
Hope spring can not be a subject for utility patent)

One of the few guys making real money with his sims is actually @bsft:
    http://www.davesmotionracers.com.au/

In my oppinion, calling other people, who try to do the same, just dumb (see above), doesn't make sense and is not fair and open.

@value1 , if you define $30-$50 collected at a car show "real money" or taking the simulators to help raise funds for my autistic kids and also for the burns unit at the Childrens hospital, then thats fine.
I dont bother with car shows anymore, the sims are for private hire, but it is really none of your business what I do with them. Commercial licencing has been sorted.
@tronicgr , no they are not coin op, its a bit hard to set that up.
    Ratings are undone.

I see your point about goin commercial with your build as there is a market for sure with all the playseats etc, but really. The patent and trademarks are a jungle. I know that from a fact when i a couple of years ago with a friend tried to develop a prototype for a gardening solution. We gave up due to that someone had a similar idea wich just had even a ounce of ours....that was enough for a no go! I have no intention of beeing sued over that.
And at the sametime i agree with the fellas building their own rigs and sharing the info and hours of tests and fails on how to get the builds to work in a way that we like and think its fun.
Simtools for instance is made from code and programming that was made from a user and helped out to get refined by the community for the best of all......if used commercially the owner has the rights to it.......even a tiny bit of code wich is similar is trespassing on his work without acceptance from the maker. Plain and simple.
SO ask if it can be used.
The design is great looking, but i wouldent share it if i was goin commercial with it......id keep it in a dark room til it was completded :) but that just me.
    Good luck with it.

    And Dave.........you rock man!

Feel VR is planning to build and sell, and will need something drawn up for commercial software licencing.
I only have 2 rides I use for private party hire and as said, fund raising for my autism kids , school fundraisers, burns unit at Hospital (my older boy qualified for this) . I will take them to charity support car shows, but really, there is very little "cash" in this business on the scale I am doing. I do it for "favours" and to help others.
I approached Dustin regarding commercial licencing long before I picked up the tools of the dual sim racer setup and made sure he was 100% fine and also to check what requirements I needed. Only after it was all listed out, THEN, I proceeded to build and set up. If I didnt get permission, I was not going to proceed.
People seem to forget what we really complaning about here , they think they do not need or cant be bother to even ask or even contact dustin before start or advertising , come on guys whats fair , please define.
Put yourself in Dustins shoes, he has specified over and over what needs to be done, but people STILL go behind or ignore.
@yobuddy - Dustin is the creator of Simtools, it is licenced to him as his creation.

BSFT, when someone buys something, that means that person needs it. So what is bad in situation where seller earns money for his work while buyer gets what he wanted?
And concerning criticism, don't criticize and you won't be criticized for the same things, as commercial use etc.
And as I said many times, I'm not currently going to use Simtools software. So I really don't understand of what you are "complaining about here".
PS coin op can easily be implemented in 1-2 days.

I consider that if the objective is a prototype for a commercial simulator, which is not going to use SimTools, then to save confusion the appropriate place for this thread is in the commercial thread section.

Perhaps @RaceRay can assist with that and @RaceRay I suggest the commercial section be renamed to Commercial Simulators and Prototypes or something similar, to more appropriately define the content as being commercial irrespective if it is a DIY prototype or not.

Hello @Den Krutko Nice CAD drawings but its not much welcomed in any forum to see the same information spinned/spammed all over the web again and again so i agree here with @bsft
This does look more than doing just advertising than delivering useful and special information for the xsimulator community. So as nothing is new and your project is commercial related i will move it to the commercial section.

    Regards,
    René

Coin op is not my idea, I just commented on
You use simtools for commecrial purposes, so you got commercial licensing. By whom should I be licensed if I don't use them? And for what reason?

I don't question you of anything but explanation of what you have posted.
We are here to discuss, not to hate everyone.
So I don't understand why you are so proud of your "harsh" language.

    I disagree )
I'm the only person that is doing this project (do it YOURSELF), and I've earned nothing on it, so it couldn't be considered commercial.

I'll try to make it available for selling only if it will be amazing) The first prototype I'm doing solely for myself.

But if you wish, you can move it to commercial section, I don't care much where it would be.

But a building project which you can't buy, in commercial section.. Isn't that strange?

My view is that if you are considering commercial possibilities, and you have clearly indicated that you are with statements like "turns to be a nice product, I'll try to start producing it" then it is a prototype. That it is a DIY prototype does not change the commercial intention, and you are not the first nor will you be the last that comes to this forum where commercial intention, connections or activities are in play.

In my view having this thread in the general DIY non commercial forum section muddies the waters for all parties. While you may intend that your simulator is initially only to be for yourself, if it is commercialized at any point in the future then the act of seeking information from members here during its development brings into play a range of licensing considerations in ways you may not have considered.

    Are you serious?
Maybe the ACT of browsing the web https://www.google.com/search?q=motion+simulator
is also subject for licensing considerations?
So I have to purchase a license to see all those images?

PS I'm not seeking information, I'm sharing it..

I am very serious that you are indeed subject to all license obligations concerned with publishing to this site, which is something very different from doing a Google search.

    Thanks for the info.
    Oh, that kind of license.
I won't have problems with it cause my content is built from scratch and have been sketched long before I even knew about this forum.
And concerning my content - that's ok to use this mechanics concepts with attribution, I'd be glad to inspire someone to create something cool.
My really valuable design is a complete new type of gearless cost-effective servo motor with electronics to drive it and software.
So that's the only thing I wouldn't share untill prototype will be ready.
PS in Friday have finished debugging motor drive firmware, it works like a charm!) Smooth, silent and powerful. So I think in a couple of months there will be a fully functional prototype.
