2 DOF DIY-project with traction loss

    Hello everyone!

    I´m going to make 2dof with traction loss or at least option for it!
    I don´t exactly know what electronics do I need to do traction loss. And electronics mean, for example, Arduino and Motomonster!

    Picture of the plan as an attachment!

    And here is my shopping list:

    3* 12V High Torque Turbo Worm Gearbox Reduction Gear DC Motor JGY370 80rpm (not sure at all that these will works but was so cheap that have to test)
    3* Bourns 91A1AB24/28A15 cermet 10k mono linear potentiometer
    3* anti-roll bar link rod (half cut and extended with steel bars)
    1*drive shaft joint
    1*wheel bearing (for the

    1* Arduino Uno ( Do I need something else for traction loss?)
    1* Motomonster ( Do I need something else for traction loss?)

    And a lot of metal beams!

    I use Thrustmaster 500RS with F1 and GTE 458 steering wheels!

    This does not seem to be very clearly written =) But maybe someone understand my thoughts...


    I would be very grateful for the assistance of electronics (for the traction loss, what do I need etc))!

    The same like for the 2dof.
    I planing to build the same (tracionloss already done and tested, thread follows soon) and a will use 3 equal wiper motors and 2 MotoMonster connected to one Arduino. First i thought about using a bigger motor and both channels of the MM combined to 1 (called halfbridge) but there was not very much temperature development. When everything is finished i will ad a heatsink but it looks like a fan wouldn't even be necessary in my case.

    Thanks for your thoughts! I suspect that the traction loss does not need to power very much if the bearing is good!
    What size is movement pattern of your traction loss?
    And I suspect that the bearings of your traction loss is at the same point with joint?
    Do you support the frame somewhere else, or is the bearing enough?

    I don't understand "the same point with joint". Normaly there is no joint in a tractionloss. There is the bearing at the front and a wheel or a bearing at each side at the rear. That should be enough. Some ad wheels on the front, too. That could be necessary if one builds something else than a seatmover.
    At the moment mine is able to move 15cm to each side. Maybe someday i'll build a diy actuator and ad more stroke. It has replacable plates especially for that.
    Like i said, i will open a thread soon, maybe tomorrow. I am a lazy pxxx when it comes to photoshop/resizing and uploading pictures and i want to show more than a handfull pictures.

    Here´s some pictures of the "same point with joint".
    I will try to use "car´s tailgate gas springs" for dampening TL movement! I'm not sure that it works, but I was going to try!
    I think that TL bearing is wrong place to save money, the more sensitive it is, the less force the motor needs!

    I think that what you are depicting is yaw rather than traction loss: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yaw_(rotation)

    Traction loss is an arc with the pivot at the forward end, the motion is distinctly different from yaw.

    Center of gravity will be in the same position with driver, so that really is yaw!!
    Back to the drawing board =)

    @noorbeast, silentchill's old 3dof had practically no angle on the sides. Was that a better design?

    the motors you have listed will not be large enough. If you go with motos you will need two of them (depending on motor size) to run three motors, one arduino and the smc3 sketch/utils.
