@Scratch - I have this game and played it for about 30 minutes. As far as I can tell (and I mashed all the keys) you can't drive from inside the vehicle and you actually control the car from the outside in a control fashion similar to how you move the map in Civ 5. It's a novel game but not a driving sim in any 1st person sense.

If you want to drive a truck, check out ETS2. I'm a little bit addicted to Euro Truck Simulator 2. I can't begin to tell you how many hours I've sunk into that game!

Thanks Archie for the heads up, almost bought this but started to search info about cockpit view. So there is none, that's it then. Yeah, I really should get into ETS2, I've played first ETS in the past, liked it very much

I was hoping when I saw the steam sales this year that this was first person but I think they really want you to see the mud and physics of it so they put you 3rd person. I think if I recall this game started on KickStarter too.

I played it for about 30 minutes, got stuck in a mud pit, tried to get out and then just switched off the game in frustration. I guess you could argue, on that evidence alone , they nailed the "hobby" of 4x4 driving :p

I've been driving around too and didn't really get the point. After a while in the mud, I've seen it…

Inside view will be available in future, perhaps...

List of stretch-goals we aim to achieve should we exceed our base goal:

    £80,000
    • VS Multiplayer
    • More game-modes.
    • Internal cockpit views (with reflective mirrors, and working window wipers).
    • Even more game assets (trucks, map assets, etc).
    £100,000
    • Cross platform version for Mac.

    Mac what? :p

I am all for game development but why would reaching 80,000 quid suddenly enable the developer to design an internal cockpit view?? Either you can or you can't from the get go?

I mean, look at AC and the cars in that and some of the best tracks (Nurburgring Nordscheife) are community provided.

(Should read 100 grand and we WON'T make a Mac version. :p)

Ok, I decided to give this game a try after all, since I recently participated on real off-road safari as a driver and that was just way too fun. After brief test with this game, I am sold. This actually comes pretty close the real deal regarding the physics and the "feel". And it looks right. Only driver being tossed around is missing...

There is also first person view modded! Glitchy atm., but still.

I also tested game called Off-Road Drive but that did not feel right, even when it had proper 1st person view. Still need to test Rigs of Rods, looks promising by looking at the videos.

Wonder is there any plans for plugin for any of these...

Interestingly enough , one of my associates happens to be one of the game developers for Spin Tyres.
I have asked him for SDK data for a plugin, but no response, and yes the bonnet view mod is a bit off, but thats all that is planned.

Interesting! Pitty that your associate did not respond though. Been playing this game now more this evening, it's very very good game! But currently I have to play with xbox controller because game does not support multiple controllers, and since my pedals, wheel and shifter are all different usb devices, I cannot use them all at once. But with some additional software it is possible to "connect" all controllers into one virtual controller for what I've read, need to dig more in to that.

About the bonnet view, vanilla view above the roof is pretty good, but there is also a modded view inside the cockpit, here is a video:

That looks good enough actually, but haven't tested it and it seems to be car specific. But to be honest, this game is all about bad looking (in a good way) off-road trucks crawling through a mud and that looks cool, I understand now why devs thought cockpit view is not that important.

But even if driving third person view, motion would take this game to the next level!
