    Hi guys
After months of building and testing time changes and everything is known differently. When my simulator was finished I wanted to get out big hard moves and turns as much as possible. After a while it began to bother me, why I had to reduce mainly the way of the lever but not the speed. What is your experience?

    Hi Pit!

I went to the same conclusion ;)
    - maximal (speed) reactivity to stick to the game
    - average amplitude to preserve my neck and back!

Thanks for the topic, because I intend to start soon the construction of my simulator and visualized several videos of simulators with large and sudden movements, which certainly hinder a long-lasting gameplay! reports are helping me a lot to decide! THX

You can tune the speed sort of well its more the reactiveness of the motion.
This is why on my 2DOF I set the Axis Assignments to 20% for 5DoForces and not exceeding 100% of total axis used.
Then I step through and test each force in game and then adjust the min and max to suit the reaction I feel is right , well to my liking. All done without the other forces present, make it lot easier to tune, I know habits are hard to break but sorry we do it a little different here.
Then I fine tune all 5 together, after this if I can car and feel its not just right for that car then I turn to the Game Manager and tune a profile to suit that class of car. Works a treat !! then after saving that and have multiply ones , I can then simply select them from the Game Managers front screen when changing class of car within one game.

Yes all can be achieved with SimTools.

Hi I have a quick question sorry if its already been asked its kind of related to "less is more" do you (motion sim users) find your stage or lap times are improved with motion ? or don't it make much difference ?

IMO lap times do not benefit if you will use a simulator.

sometimes yes, sometimes no. After a while you tend to anticipate motion cues from the game more than visual cues, like feeling "those" bumps right before a corner and then hitting the brakes. That can help a bit sometimes.
Although I do know of a couple of Iracing guys who insist their laptimes have improved with motion, as they can "feel" the car better and can set it up better.

For me with the Rift it is the fidelity of motion cues that are more important to enhancing immersion than overall large movement, so less is more, but I also get that others have different preferences.

I suppose it all depends on what type of rig you have and how good the motion of it correlates with the movement shown on the screen. But imho motion makes driving a lot easier because as bsft stated, “After a while you tend to anticipate motion cues from the game more than visual cues, like feeling "those" bumps right before a corner and then hitting the brakes.” I find this to be completely true in my case where I am using heave as my 3rd dof. I can tell when I’m about to get loose for example when coming off a large bump or hill. When this happens during a turn the motion feedback tells me just when to let off the gas a little to keep from loosing it! However, I never really got into racing games much until I already had a motion simulator so I must admit I never learned to drive good using only visual cues before having motion. But, for me, I definitely have better lap times with motion than without!

@BlazinH Thank you I guess the best way to find out for real is to build it and see.

I like lots of motion and vibrations more intense the better :D

Not actually raced that much because im too busy tweaking and adding stuff on all the time. I just want it all setup perfect for when PCars is released

perfection is never achieved ........ only too many hours spent fiddling and re-adjusting
4 years later I am still fiddling with profiles.
