Go for it! Building the toys is the best part of having them I reckon.

I just noticed all the fans you have on the big worm gear motors. Do you guys recommend putting big fans on each motor?

with motors low like on dual racers, because they are under more load, yes, put fans on them. But even a DC shoulder mount has the motors get a bit warm. Still, $4 120mm fan is good to help them keep cool.

nothing to do with current drain or power feeding them I found.

If I may, for the record, state that heat generated in a motor is a byproduct of the amount current being drawn by it and its resistance to the current flowing thru it. A DC motor that is at rest but has power being applied to it has the highest resistance, draws the most current, and produces the most heat at any particular voltage. Therefore, to keep heat generation at its minimum, it is important to set your motors minimum speed in its controller’s settings to one that is just large enough to start the motors turning when a call for any movement is made.

thanks @BlazinH for the info. I only know results from the motors I use under different load conditions and power settings.
I found, with what I use, motors shoulder mount are above COG so the power settings can be a bit less and the motors dont seem to heat up as much.
Motors down lower, like the desk racer, however, require more power and maybe because they are under more actual weight, they work harder and get warmer.
As said, a $4 fan on the motors help keep them cool, so thats what I do these days

My mechanical mind is not able to comprehend how this works. Anyway, I think only setting to affect the load is the distance from the U Joint and motor lever, or in short, the total available movement of the Sim.

@BFST - Learning arduino is going to help you a lot. Its actually very easy. If you can build those awesome looking Sims, then this will just be a piece of cake. And more choice of cards. Especially if you are going to build a lot of sims.
