    james,
    eBay is a great source for "tie-rod ends / heim joints" - I've purchased gearheads / motors / contactors / kill switches / nuts/bolts -
well, an awful lot and have saved a ton of money.
    Good luck,

    Tom

yes ebay is loaded with all sorts of parts but not Canada based parts. and with their new shipping fees it just makes them to expensive. Local I mean within 100km of hamilton

You should have tons of options where you live with Kitchener, Toronto and other major cities nearby.

Two sources I can think of off hand:

Princess Auto www.princessauto.com Locations all over. It's like Harbor Freight.
Tie rod ends and universal joints assorted surplus gear reduced motors depending on location, lots of power seat adjustment motors in the one near me.

    http://www.canadarobotix.com/
Also have a small walk-in location in Markham. I was able to walk in and pickup a Pololu Maestro 6.

Cool I too like to keep my shopping local, but the Aussie attiude on pricing suxs, import a product cheaply and then tripple the price before sale, and they wonder why people are not buying , internet and ebay is cheaper indeed.

    "when people have jobs" ?
Please elaborate ...... if you mean buy local to support local jobs, thats in principle a good idea, but then the AU$ drops the price of imports goes up, and then to add insult to injury, if the AU$ goes above parity with greenback, the price goes up even more. Go figure. And yes, @eaorobbie is right, what locals charge is ridiculous sometimes.

I don't know much about AU. but I do spend the time to look for "made in Canada products". and I like buying used to reduce waste. Not to mention cost and the opportunity to barter.

Apparently you didn't buy what you linked to because those are $23.95. I can buy them for $8.00 all day long elsewhere though so you saved a dollar over that which is good! And while it's noble to help keep people employed in your own country, people need jobs everywhere! If I need something that I can't get here in the USA and Canada has it, I don't think twice about spreading a little wealth to the Great White North! Good luck with your project!
