I initially wanted to build a flight sim only but after seeing all these seat movers I am thinking it would be nice to be able to play racing games too. I am only thinking 2DOF right now, so I guess it's either a seat mover or a joyrider.

    Any thoughts/suggestions?

Hi @JBoogie nice to have you with xsimulator.net ... we have a lot of projects here of both types ... IMHO a seat mover is much fun and can be done easily so you can go for a spin soon ... take a look at the DIY motion simulator projects aria .

you may also consider this first sticky project DIY 2DOF simulator is what you need ... simple and effective .

note that : racing simulator and flight simulator are not alike because the steering and gear stick in racing cars are not like flight controls like this New Logitech g940

Thanks! A seat mover definitely looks simpler to build. For a flight sim though, does a seat mover still provide enough pitch and roll for good immersion?

it will also depend on the working angle of the universal U joint under the seat ... best is 35 degree like this with 70 degree over all angle ...more angle will over load the motors .

It would depend on the angle you create from the length levers on the motors, but then again, its amazing what immersion you can get from a seat mover with a short lever and the right profile.
