    If any of you are having a difficult time remembering the resistor color code and constantly needing to look at a chart here is a tip to help you remember it. Using a catchy sentence whose words first letter corresponds to the first letter for each color in the code is much easier to remember. My electronics instructor was taught electronics by the United States Navy so keep that in mind when I tell you the sentence he taught us in class. You can make up a sentence of you own if you don’t like his but I have not forgotten it in 30 years. He taught us, “[deleted by admin]”. That corresponds to Black, Brown, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet, Grey, and White. And that corresponds to 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.

    Hey Yobuddy, have you found a local source for the copper disks? I have a sheet of 1/4" copper out in the shop. I could probably run it through the CNC and make half a dozen or so. I am thinking of trying this project out as well (considering the cheap Chinese drivers that I am planning on using for my 6DoF).

    EDIT: By the way, I cleaned up the PDF file generously supplied by Abdo Tahan and created a vector art file suitable for CNC cutting for the copper disks in case anyone else has access to a machine. Here is the vector art file (in EPS let me know if you want it in another format):

    Arg...I ran a test run yesterday. I think I need to learn more about milling copper. It was a disaster. The drilling (using Pecking) was fine, but the milling portion had multiple errors. I used settings recommended by various CNC/Milling forums but I must be doing something wrong. I have milled aluminum and brass successfully on the CNC before, I did not think that copper would be so difficult, lol.

    Sorry to get your (and my) hopes up.

    I'm going to use this kind of white terminals to firmly tight the thick cables that is intended to be used for the motor and battery power supply ... the 5pin TC will be for attaching the 5wire cable coming from the SimAxe or the Arduino board ...
    cables will go in and out through the space between boards ...

    Yesterday I finished making the copper disk and I want to share how it's made ? ...
    first I found a supplier that can sell copper by kilograms ... I bought 15cm of a 6.5cm solid yellow copper rod ... that weighed 4.3Kg

    went to a lathe to cut the rod into 4mm slices ... gave me a total of 15 disks ... with a 3cm rod left over due to the lathe hub inside holding distance.
    total cost till no for 15 disks are 450LE /7 " Dollar exchange rate " /15 =4.28 USD for each disk ...:p

    used a sharp tool to mark where to cut and drill ... I can see the + marks scratches so you can too .:)

    And gave it a good sanding and some polishing buff to a mirror shine ... I like that so I have to wipe out my fingerprints every time I touch it ... to be like I didn't do it :D

    And will continue soldering the MOSFET's as soon as I get some of the white stuff " heat compound " ...

    also found these types of cooling fans ... See how the aluminum core fan gets the biggest heat sink and is considered a bad cooling fan in computer world ...

    I guess when machining copper the brawn or reddish material it starts to accumulate and becomes like a sticky gum on the machining tool ... when machining Brass [ copper alloy with zinc ] the yellow material it is way much easier to machine and with the same performance of copper row material .

    tip : Bronze is a copper and tin alloy ... much harder

    I mill copper with coolant and a sharp carbide 4 fluted endmill. you need to fiddle with your feeds and speeds to get it cutting properly, it's a pain to mill.
