Is there a SimTools plugin for Codemasters Formula 1 series of racing simulators?

    http://www.formula1-game.com

I am a huge fan of F1 and live in the hope that Codemasters will make their F1 series of games better in a couple of respects; its physics model and its force feedback.

I used to love Grand Prix Legends and, IMHO, nothing has bettered the knuckle biting thrill of GPL. iRacing comes close, but there are to many nutters on there to make it a fun experience.

My brother-in-law, my cousin and I would rather race each other and a few AI cars, but we are iternally let down by Codemasters F1 games . I am a sucker for punishment and have just bought F1 2013. Haven't tried it yet, but if the force feedback is better I would love to consider building a motion simulator for it.

    Many thanks for the link.

You may wonder why I ask, sometimes, simple questions instead of 'Go and Google it'. I was trained in an environment, a British MoD contractor, where I worked in a big team and the culture was if you didn't know the answer, ask the right person. Things get done quicker this way. Sorry if this annoys anyone if they think I am asking obvious questions and being lazy.

I also get earn loads of BitCoins, too;)

I can confirm to you the plugin work very well indeed on my seat mover they are one hell of a ride, sometimes quite hard to focus on the screen because of the body being rattle by the hard tuned suspension, game play is quite cool too.
I prefer a Rally car born on the dirt addicted to it. And V8 Supercars.

No one wonders why you ask here, thats the idea. I have gotten answers quicker here than having to search for it elsewhere.

Cool. Now I just need to find the PSU for my G27 steering wheel...

I have watched some of Australian V8 SuperCar racing on Europsort and it is great. I love the (friendly) rivalry between Ford and GM fans. The V8s make British Tour Cars (which I do like) look tame. You can't better a V8 based racing car. Will be interesting to see and hear the new 2014 V6 F1 cars.

Don't shoot me if I am wrong, but I think the new F1 cars will have two turbos.

It doesn't say it here; http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/25158104, but I was looking at the 2014 regulation changes earlier this year and found a video from Renault demo'ing their new engine and I vaguely remember it saying two turbos. The sound of the engine is different, but still sounds loud and great.

I was lucky to go to my first F1 race this year; http://www.ge-tec.co.uk/silverstone-formula-1-grand-prix/. What really sticks in my mind is the bang of the over-run as the drivers come off the throttle or change down gear. You could even feel it your chest. You never hear that on the TV.

I am really glad I got the chance to see V8 F1 cars in action, before they are no more, but now I want to go to see another F1 race. It is so expensive in the UK, but worth every penny, though:) It was an amazing experience.

I really like the new Circuit of the Americas. If I had the money I would go and see a F1 race there. I think it is the best of the modern circuits.

I think any motorsport event is better in person than on TV. Before the children, I was always at the drag racing watching the top fuel cars, doorslammers, hotrods, etc, blasting the 1/4 mile, or the local race track before it became a housing development watching the old group N cars (minis, toranas, valiants, early 70's late 60's cars), and trucks, and yes, it looks, sounds, and smells better.

@Hypo , there will not be much Ford - Holden rivalry for long. Ford Australia is closing its manufacturing within 3 years and Holden is doing the same by 2016. Probably why the Nissan and Mercedes are in the groups.

Hmm. Gives me another idea. :! Don’t know about adding to the looks and sounds…..but smells better may be possible. I envision an electronic arching device like in the old Frankenstein movies. Put it in an enclosure with a hole in it that opens towards the driver. Put another hole opposite it or maybe on the bottom and put a small fan in it. Then cut a nice chunk off of an old tire and place it between the arcing transformers outputs. Now connect the fan to a pwm pin on a controller. Use another pin on the controller to signal a very high power relay going to the high voltage transformer. We can now simulate the smell of a burnout! We could put some motor oil in a metal container or bowl also and use a light bulb under it to heat it up to create oil smells. I think I have my next submission to Half Baked!!!!

I usually eat a strong pepper steak for dinner and then fart during racing, the stench seems to be similar to burning engine and tyres for me.
I had planned for the sim to burst into flames on impact or even an ejector seat so I get launched into the ceiling above.

I was going to reply with a serious response, but after reading the above I cant better that:grin You guys crack me up.

Just to say I have been to lots of Touring Car race days and other events and they are always great days out.

It's such a bummer when great racing series comes to an end. The BTCC is not what it used to be like and a couple of years ago it looked, to me, close to closing. The economic downturn hit racing hard.

If you are going to build a smell simulator you must include one of cheap burgers and sausages cooking. When my brother-in-law and I used to go to races we would eat burgers all day. After eating about 6 to 8 burgers in a day it puts you off eating junk food for a month:grin

the current Formula 1 engine sound is all gone.. Remember back in the days at a circuit in hongary.. just 10 meters from the tarmac, hearing those engine roaring .. but that was nearly 10 years ago..

I read comments of Vettel "Vettel said: "I was on the pit wall during the race, and it is quieter than in a bar"

    Read more: http://www.theweek.co.uk/formula-1/f1-2014/57898/f1-engines-sound-s-says-vettel-button-weighs#ixzz2xTdDVUit

Too bad you have to go vintage racing parades just to hear the 'good' sounds again..

    Just my pennies worth...

I was very lucky to go and see last years Silverstone race. In the stands the noise isn't to bad, but trackside it was painful.

I think the rule changes are good F1. It's really shaken up who is the top team, the cars are really tricky to drive, the engineering is on the edge and the teams have to work hard to get the cars working and reliable. I got interested in F1, back in late 80s, because of the engineering that goes into an F1 car. F1 is now back to being a matter of a technology race as while as racing on the track. IMHO that is what F1 is about. I might be a bit biased because my dad did some sub-contract work for Williams a long time ago and it's great to see Williams back on form.

I've been to a SuperBike race and the in car camera sounds, of the F1s, are a bit like a SuperBike. Until one is trackside its hard to really know what the cars sound like. F1 has got to have some relevance to the development of technology that goes into road cars or manufacturers like Renault and Mercedes will pull out. Having a super amount of downforce on a normal road car isn't relevant. Within two races I've got used to the new sounds. I like the squeal of tyres when the lockup. IMO the sound of the cars is not as important as changing with the times and keeping F1 alive.

Please don't post who won the race today because I haven't had the time to watch the race yet. I've only had time to watch the free practices and qualifying.

I can't afford to go and see an F1 race this year, but I am planning to go in 2015. It's very expensive to go and see F1 in the UK, but I want to go again to hear the new engines. The next couple of years of F1 is going to be a fascinating battle.

If you want hear and see a really loud race go and see MotoGP. My cousin went last year and said he was deaf for two days afterwards ;-)

Ear busting is standing behind 2 top fuel dragsters on take off. Vision vibrates as well as ears.
