    My Motion Simulator:
2DOF, DC motor, Arduino, Motion platform
Hello everyone, I'm posting a couple of images showing my just finished 2DOF.
I wish to thank all forum moderators and members for sharing their projects and for the precious hints.
If you take a look at the photos, you will probably see that many of you contributed to my project.

In order to recover some space when I'm not "flying" I made the cockpit section foldable and mounted the main frame on wheels so I can roll the rig under the desk.
This also keeps the wife within a manageable level of stress, which is not a detail...
Power and controllers are in the smaller old PC case that I've recycled after removing all the original guts.

I have a Reverb and now that I've experienced the combination VR - motion platform I believe I won't be able to go back to 2D simulated flight.

    Thanks again, and have fun!

I'm just curious if the motion makes much of a difference. I built my sim originally for flight sim, but I quickly switched to car racing. If I was making coordinated turns while flying, there was almost no motion. If I was doing aerobatics or something crazy, there was motion but seemed more annoying than positive since it didn't match up real well. The sim would not know what to do if I went inverted. I had a friend with a full sized flight sim with no motion and the realism was so much better.

I guess it's just a matter of tuning.
There's a lot of parameters that can be adjusted and it may require some time to bring the system to a satisfying setup.
It takes time also because you need to close MSFS every time you want to change something in the axis assignment and start it again afterwards.
Different geometry and different motors power lead to different parameters setup, so a trial-and-error approach is the way to go, IMHO.
Axis limiting and the various filters allow you to get the movement (both displacement and acceleration) your brain is expecting to match with what you are seeing.
When you get to the correct setup the immersion feeling is stunning.
Please note that I'm referring to a VR experience.

Just so you know you do not have to close MSFS or any game to make changes, just use the big button on the top left corner of Game Manager to toggle the connection of SimTools to the game off and on.
