There are lots of interesting things in the latest MSFS dev update: https://www.flightsimulator.com/november-18th-2021-development-update/

But one that is finally advancing is support for VR controllers:

Is the use of controllers really justified? I don't really see myself going from my joystick to the controllers ...

Is anyone using this in combination with other controllers? I am using Virtual Desktop with the Quest 2 which allows me to use hand tracking as VR controllers - I would LOVE to be able to grab for a controll with my hand, and move back to my YOKE - testing it a bit I didn't find a way to combine the two input methods and also didn't find anything on YouTube -maybe someone here has?

I am afraid that using controllers would affect the immersion feeling that VR is all about

The Quest 2 allows you to use hand tracking and Virtual Desktop would translate that into VR controllers, and the VR controllers in MSFS would be shown as hands - thus having a virtual hand, showing your real hand in MSFS :grin:grin:grin
but i tested it just using the hand tracking and it's totally yanky - so I don't see this making sense at all. And you won't be able to dynamically change between this and the controller

I guess the best way is to have some physical knobs, buttons and stuff to reach while wearing the visor, possibly placed in front and around in positions matching what we see in VR

    Use the following:
    - OpenXR toolkit
    - DLSS
    - Lower graphics settings

there are tons of good YouTube tutorials on getting good VR performance in MsFs (make sure to look for ones that are not older than a few weeks since DLSS was only introduced in I think September )

I run an i9 11900K, RTX 3090 and use the OpenXR Toolkit and DLSS with all (!) Settings to ULTRA. I get constant 45-55 FPS. Both the Toolkit and DLSS are game-changers.
