    Hi,

I have access to different machine-tool that permit me to change all my plastic parts to aluminum parts.

But, in my experience, all plastic parts on my actuator is enough strong for a normal operation.

The thing you must to know : You can use plastic parts in condition that they work principally in compression sollicitation.
Infill must not be obligatorily 100 % ... I use PETG. At 60% - 80% infill can be enough but fibers must to be orientate to correctly... And you must to set a large thickness wall ...depending to your part and how they are sollicitated.

    Taht's all :)

    Hi everybody !!!

The construction is still following....VR headset is cool but it makes me sick..... So i decide to update primarily the custom triple screen mounting as you can see on the photo. The support of the screens is maked with 3d printing parts . (10 mm thickness). For a first test, i can see that it is really strong... 20220722_172104.jpg 20220715_154915.jpg

I've got the exact same problem haha. I can handle VR without motion all day long but with motion I can hardly complete a lap on nordschleife without getting sick.. I know its just a matter of getting use to it but its a slow and painful process...

Just a reminder, when it comes to VR and motion less is more in the motion profile setting, start with small, fast and very precise motion profile settings.

Yeah, with OVRMC, it must solve the VR problem, but for now, triple screens is also really confortable for gaming and it gives a cool look to the rig :)

Also, make sure your headset isn't in 6 DOF mode (put it in 3 DOF mode) or use motion compensation

I really loved the result. Good job! What is the approximate spacing between the actuators on the base and on the top platform?

Yeah but you're never going to get the motion 1 to 1 to real life so there's always something conflicting in your brain/stomach ^^

The purpose of a motion rig is not to give 1:1, as that is virtually impossible with any rig, rather it is to provide adequate cues to have your brain respond as though something is real, even though you know it is not. When it comes to VR and motion high speed accurate motion is very important to do so, even at the cost of axis movement range.

Many people ask me always the same question.... Is odrive solution cheaper than AMC solution ?
This table is my answer to this question... I'm sure that somebody will not be agree with this table...However, i give you the warranty that prices is true and come from my real experience.... I don't want to discuss about this subject...Make your choice my friends ;-) Comparison -Odrive vs AMC.jpg

The spacing between the two u-joint: (approximatively)
On the top platform: 1169 mm
    On the base: 1185 mm

Just a quick observation, the thanos cost should really be divided by the number of actuators as no one will only be using 1. Most people would be running 4, so this should be shown as $87.25, taking the total of each AMC unit to $357.25

In the table you mention that Odrive is cheaper but requires more work, you detail the cost in the table of the Odrive but not the comparative complexity. Do you intend addressing the latter in some sort of similar comparative chart?

    Hi,

My table is just a comparison with the price criteria only. As i write in the conclusion, Odrive solution requires more work. But in my experience, it's not really a problem if you have technical experience...And more, you can find several tutorial for odrive configuration... You have just to apply.... When you use odrive, you are really in the DIY world...

I raise this as complexity has a time cost, and potential risk of project failure/delay, with a number of members already having to seek considerable support re Odrive use.

That is not to suggest that Odrive is flawed, but if a detailed cost comparison is drawn it is only fair to also point out the potential time and possible project completing impediments.

I'm fully agree with you... That's why i wrote in my conclusion "Odrive requires more work...." . This table was the answer of a member that's asking me the price comparison in another thread....

Me and other odrive users are working to simplify the use of Odrive. It will comes later ;-)

    Hello,

Just a video to verify that all works good !!!! It misses two screen on the cornes but i need to move the rig in another position to have more space.... Next step, closed the electrical box , added the two screens and the project will be finished :)
