Hi, want to show my DIY actuator that I designed during my free time (lots of free time due to C19 situation).

They are 180w brushless servomotors coupled with 1204 ball screws. Motor drivers are integrated inside the servomotors. So they just need PSU to run. The actuators manage to give about 50kgs of forces at 100mm/s of speed and 75mm stroke. The end fittings are vibration absorber rubber. 50kg of force per actuator is more that enough to move a 2DOF rig with support underneath or a lightweight 3DOF rig with 4 actuators.

This is the controller with arduino mega. It can control up to 4 actuators with speed, acceleration control and smoothing. Has homing sequence during startup and some protections. It can receive command in 2 modes; Direct mode where simtools directly control each actuator and Attitude mode where simtools send pitch, roll and heave signal and the controller mix them to control each actuator. It can also vibrate at a fix frequency to simulate traction loss. There's a companion apps that I made using Processing to set & test the system.

    Rig Mount Dimension.jpg
This is how the actuators are mounted. After some of my friends asked me to make for them, I decided to go ahead and sell them thru facebook groups and e-comm site in my country. So I made the user manual & some videos. Price is MYR3800 (USD910) for 2DOF and MYR7400 (USD1770) for 3DOF.

    This is the 2DOF version.

    This is the 3DOF version.

I'm making this thread just to show my project over the past 2 years and not to advertise anything here. I don't even have a company or anything.

    Thanks.

Very nice and good price but I have a question. Are those motors better the ones like the AC servomotors (90ST-M02430 220V 750W for example)? I guess people would want an actuator than they can repair themselves with cheap aliexpress motors and a 3D printer.
    Anyway they look really good...

Thanks. I chose these motor because the cost is much lower. Found a group in Germany that is using these motor for their CNC machines and learned a lot from them. Got the motors direct from manufacturer (Alibaba). The actuator internal are full CNC metal parts. So nothing much to repair except maybe to service the ball screw and linear bushing after few years. Motors are also easily replaced if they broke down.

Unfortunately, my wife business take off much much higher than mine. So I have to abandon mine and concentrate on hers. :D

If you are from Malaysia, I can sell you unit that I still have at discount price.

hello there.. great job on your diy build.
do have a personal thread that show how you build your diy actuator? or can you share the part list that needed.
I really like it's compactness and wondering if I can replicate it.
    thx in advance
    cheers!
