Last stage of this sim will be making it mobile. Hoping to finish this and make it to local IRL events (rally / racing ).

Using HEA 160 and some 160 tube for whole thing. It will be easy to attach roof/tent/projector screen.

    IMG_20210213_201420.jpg

Still first co2 balloon on MIG welding. Guessing it will hold the thing together. Total project weight will come something like 1000-1100 kgs. Heavy bottom solves anchoring.

Received 4x300kg wheels to move platform around in garage to be able use car lift for other purposes. I mean they are huge compared to what i've used. Also ball bearings for stabilising sandwitch layers. It'll be kinda expensive to drill such wide holes, instead I'm thinking of getting pipe with thick walls.

    IMG_20210227_155105.jpg

Two 50x50x4 tubes is not enough to hold whole chassis weight and has slight bent to it, will add support.

So instead of cutting pipe with thick walls decided to pay for 8 holes drilling (30e really for same day pickup). It would've been pain getting 4 same height pipes.

For upper layer two additional holes for screws to adjust height. Bottom height welded permanent.

It was luck to manage get all balls to get contact, at least at center position.

    kontaktas.JPG

When moved around one or two balls sometimes lose contact, but no worries as it will need readjusting after some time of use.

Now to get old system running need to place gas struts and connect reducer arms/levers. Also get cables going. For sensors instead of hall sensors will use SSI contactless, should help dealing with slight movements in construction.

Covering platform bottom. After doing it will go for wires, cannot continue work with motors/reducers without them.

Things are going well. Most of the re-welding thing is done.

    darbai.JPG

for yaw axis will use 60:1 instead of 50:1 this time. thanks to colleague pointing out serious mechanical error in my pulling mech, should do right this time.

    60 prie vieno.JPG

this time using SSI sensors. sadly still getting a little chirping in VFDs between "rdy" and "0.0hz". will solve on or another way.

    yaw_first.JPG
sorted out distances, now will properly wire up tech.
and btw, guys from VirtualRacing suggested to work on their car instead to make things this season.
    looks great.

probably going for official license of SimTools :)

Had few issues, but luckily done with most of them.

This is 25% motor speed, no adjustment at all, running old settings.

Pitch is held and moved by single m10 bearings and 40cm screw, which gives that bouncy boiii.

Still have to finish some things up besides it. Thinking about moisture and how to cover.

Coming out as pretty minimalistic motion platform.
I think next project combining shipping container as motion frame base will come out much better and much faster

Logical way to go would be with
    61DJs+AelVL._AC_SY355_.jpg

but it takes time to make, can't find any producer in country.

Playing around with 3mm thickness rubber.
Previously used gas struts to smoothen out backlash, these gave even better effect.

Its quite challenging to make it as waterproof as possible. First off started sealing off every hole between plywood and H profile, but ended up drilling extra holes near motors, vfds box, wires. I guess it would be easier to make controlled water spillout and not sealing all the moving thing.

This was pitch with m10 screw holding things up.
After changing it to m16 set, the tightness and overall flexing changed and all the settings needs to be redone

Got rid of axles, moved wheels to yaw axis.
It looks different with wheels moving with yaw only, but I'd say not for worse. 40kg of conditioner gone for now as well.
PID for both 10/0/1 for now.

    Something like minus 200kg

    30% speed
I think this is best attempt yet. I'll try to bump up speed more, but with it comes additional problems. The ball bearing sandwitch is good idea, but needs to be done much more precisely with thicker calibrated steel.
Also it seems pitch limits are too high. Yaw axis still have sway on it, will try to match yaw to yaw.

Had to cover sides with plywood, previous attempt with 3mm rubber didn't workout, because of its weight and it becoming less less flexible. Whats left is to cover front, where reducer levers are seen to prevent children interests at some level and some isolation for sandwitch wheels to avoid sand particles.

Previously used 10m usb cable to connect AMC1280 to PC, had random disconnects ending up as SimTools Engine software crash. Swapped it with 3m USB cable -> Active usb hub 5m cable -> PC. It solved the issue.

Looking for router for making local host connection to make pc and android phone talk eatchother. Will add streamdeck controls to make everything easier and adjustable for people likes, like setups, wheel strenght, timers, etc.

As it is platform cost isn't as high as one could think. Very roughly its under 5000€.

Hopefully soon to make short journey to some local park, to test how things are going - transportation, loading/unloading platform, leveling it, energy connection. Will try to get some shots :)

Before weight reduction reducer backlash and long pipes was creating really noticeable bouncing at the back of the car.

This time around motion looks so much more clean. Bounce is still there, but much less eye catching.

Went trough 6 hours of rain. Causes small issues like plywood arching, some rust. Drilled extra holes and left ways to water get out. It was silly me sealing all the cracks and after realizing it would make great waterpool.

Did first free of charge event in my hometown at evening till midnight. Around 50 people tried it out, they liked it. Met few simracers or those who show great interest, talked about it, maybe some more enthusiasts will show up :)
