    Hello everyone!
I have started the project to build a 2DOF. At the begining I was going to use Monster Moto, but after the first electrical assembly and some crazy tests it seems that I have broken the MM. I have bought 2 IBT-2 to try with them although I still do not rule out the MM.
The project is scaled down and when everything starts to work and I see where it is missing I will make the relevant changes.

For now this is the material used:
    • Arduino UNO R3 ELEGOO
    • WXD3-13-2W Precision Multiturn Rotary Wirewound Potentiometer
    • Monster Moto sparkfun
    • IBT_2 JZK BTS7960B 43A High Voltage Dual DC Stepper Motor Driver Module Board H Bridge PWM For Smart Car Arduino
    • Topran 1J0955119 Front Wiper Motor
    • Dual pc power supply in the absence of a server
I have disassembled everything and today I will test with the IBT-2.
As for the potentiometers, I'm not sure if they are correct. They are 10k but they are multiturn much more than 360 degrees like 6 laps to complete the turn.
For the rest I don't want to ask any more questions, which are many, and I'm going to give myself a little time to practice before starting the bombardment of questions.
I will follow friend Özden Büyüksanalan with the IBT-2 project
A greeting and thank you very much for your attention.

Today I woke up with electrical works in the neighborhood and coincidentally they were isolating the high voltage lines to ground to work, so I got down to work. I had to make a groove with the dremmel in the screws due to their low quality.

I have finished isolating the motors from ground. I hope these images serve the rest of the community.
    Greetings.

Goodnight! After isolating the motors as advised, I have continued with the electronics.

My electrical design is the same as MODE 2 from the famous tutorial, I think I have followed the steps correctly, but after running SMC3Utils v1.01 and configuring it according to the tutorial, the motors are always moving in the same direction, not as the tutorial indicates after zeroing the values and then increasing X values.
Surely I will be leaving account of some detail, but this afternoon is being very frustrating. Cheers!

Are your pots connected to the motors?

    Hi Raul,

looking to your pics in detail it seems that you have wire the pot in the wrong way. Arduinos Pin0 of Analog in should be connected to the "value changing pin" of the pot which typically is in the middle. If I am correct you mounted the pot as single side moveable. Try to change yellow and black wire on pot and give it another chance.

    Good luck!

    BR

    Hello everyone!

I am amazed at the good reception I have had!

Yesterday at the last hour I detected that the power supply was not working well and I put another one, it went into a short circuit for no reason, with the current one ok.

The pots were connected according to the scheme, but there was something else ...

Regarding the potentiometers, I think they were good, since I checked them before with a multimeter, anyway, to simplify I have put conventional ones. I really appreciate your help.

Today I have rewired and changed the pots but it did not work well. After watching for a while, it was all due to poor contact, my fault, between the L_EN and R_EN pins. After correcting this everything has worked perfectly. Tomorrow I will try the other potentiometers to see if they can be useful as they have more precision.

    Thanks a lot!

How are you intending to mount the potentiometers? Normally the leaver in a 2DOF will move less than 180 degrees, if you mount them directly to the axle without any form of gear ratio in between you will waste a lot of resolution. Say you use 180 degrees out of a 5 turn potentiometer then you are using 1/10th of the possible resolution, on Arduino with 10bit ADC you would use ~100 out of the possible 1024 steps resolution.

    Hello everyone!

How difficult it is to find time for our hobbies!

@Zef, thanks for the advice, for now I have not decided if I am going to use gears or not, I am sure that with the 6-turn blue ones I would need some very big gears, hahaha. For now I am using the conventional ones.

Today I finished installing the second IBT and the wiring. Everything has gone as expected except that the engines are moving in opposite directions. I have seen finished setups that have the engines facing each other, I don't know if this is the intention. I have to read a little more.

I have also noticed that the motors move faster one way than another.

I attach some photos of today's work.

    Goodnight!

    Good Morning!

As the electronics are improving I have decided to start making the pilot's seat. I had originally thought of using a child car seat, but they are too small and heavy. I have copied a bit the contribution of the colleague @Vladislav887878 who is a crafts artist .

    Attached the progress.

    greetings

    Hello everyone!
The project is going very well, with some problems, but by following the tutorials and advice on the forum correctly, it can be solved.
I continue with the work on the seat, the base and the cardan, but this weekend I have dedicated it to the electronic model.
I already made a temporary installation of the potentiometers connected directly to the shaft.
I have managed to make the motors turn as smc3utils commands, both in sine and in motion. Once this is done I have gone to the next step with sim tools "game engine", I have configured according to the tutorial and after several attempts I have movement in the engines when I enter "output testing" I turn on engines and move surge or sway. But after opening game manager, patching LFS and running the game I have no movement.

LFS has to be run in first person mode before patching it for motion, see here: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...run-in-first-person-mode-before-patching.365/

For a 2DOF your Interface Settings should be like this: [A<Axis1a>][B<Axis2a>]

In Axis Assignments the Dir box being checked orange or not determines which way each axis moves, this is what SimTools expects: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/which-way-to-set-simtool-axis-movements.230/

Grab a copy of the SimTools manual and keep it handy for reference: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/rtfm-start-with-the-official-simtools-documentation.117/

I continue working on the project. I have decided to make some changes to the mounting of the engines. What do you think about it?

That looks like an awfully long lever for such small motors.
