Hi, I'm looking into making a basic 3dof motion platform a bit like this: for rollercoaster simulation using No Limits 2 and I was wondering how cheaply it can be done and what components I would need to make it all work? I'm very new to all this, so any help is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks a lot,
    Adam

The cheapest way to do a 3dof may well depend on where you reside in the world and what access you have to low cost suitable motors, or if you could get a bargain price on 3 suitable secondhand motors.

Design wise assisted heave reduces the load on motors and hence range of motors that can be used.

Thanks for your reply @noorbeast !
I'm based in the UK, so it's fairly easy to get a hold of parts fairly cheaply. I've found some used motors on eBay for £50 each which the seller has used on their motion sim in the past, which they said run at 12v, ~300w and

I'm based in the UK and I've found some motors on eBay for £50 each that have previously been used in motion sims. The seller said that they run at 12v ~300w and that they used JRK 12V12 motor controllers with them. Would these be the kind of motors to go for?

    Thanks a lot,

    Adam

Trick question? To technically answer the question posed in your threads title the cheapest would be to pay nothing :D.

Three methods that come to mind is to beg, borrow, and if your compromised to steal.:popcorn
