What ive seen in a F1 sim is a motor mounted on the back of the seat with a long lever which connects to a helmet and pushing it from side to side as you drive in the cornerns and producing fake g forces. Fairly sure Seattime is using that setup. Ive also seen cables connecting from the sides and using pulleys but that seems to take a lot of space.

Two major issues with that system is its missing surge and even worse its appears to use position instead of torque to drive the actuator.

I'm not planning on using that design so that's fine. Was just to show. I'll be doing only sway first since I have what I need but I'll set it up so I can just mount the surge motor to the frame that holds it and I got both.

I'm also considering just attaching some elastic chord to my belt tensioner for acceleration surge. It's not a roller design so it's just hocking it up

Hi there, just came across your original post and thought I'd point you to my very basic build from a few years ago.

    https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/low-cost-head-motion.9233/

For how simple and small it is, it was surprisingly immersive. I initially saw it as a learning exercise and didn't expect it to work well but it did. While the primary vehicle accelerations were the main driver, a nice surprise was the detail offered by bumps, rumble strips, gear changes, etc. You could feel it all through the helmet and really made you feel like you were connected to the vehicle.

Interested to hear if you have made any developments yourself.
