    Hi everyone

    I was long time off (so many good and bad things happened, at least my simulator was collecting dust only), now back for a huge update on my rig, all modifications will be done in two steps. First step so far (particularly done or working in progress):

    All the gear racks will be replaced with SFU1605 ballscrews due the slack of the gears of the gear motors. The PC will be mounted on the rig itself to avoid the insane spaghetti syndrome. I modified the 3DOF under the seat, just experimenting with a complete new motion design (still using winches and a motorcycle scissor jack). I will replace the Arduinos of the Sabertooths with Thanos' AMC1280USB. Both mushroom kill switch buttons are now placed together (wheel and motors). The wheel stand was better stabilized. The headliner was completely new made (now with felt instead of plastic). The yaw axis (breaking out) will also modified with a ballscrew system. While I used two gear racks for each layer, now I have only one ballsrew but powered by two motors in tandem. The angle of the side screens was dramatically increased (now ~85 °) due to two reasons: first I get more space in my room, second using 3DVISION the side screens are in a perfect angle of viewing, never thought it will work (but it works).

    If time permits I will replace the both winches under the seat also using the motorcycle scissor jack as the second step. (still noise noise noise.......).

    Creative use of the encoder or brake shaft of the worm gear motor. Or a least that's what it looks like. Appears youre still using to gear output for the pot too so you don't need a multi-turn pot or gearing or belts.

    Sure, the worm gear is perfect regarding the gear ratio, which allows me to use a standard one turn poti. Fortunately a few years ago I bought high-end industry worm gear motors, versatile and strong (24V).
    If someone is wondering why I did not use linear rails (or guides) - I ordered two for the surge and sway layers to stabilize the ballscrews but not for traction loss. As long there are not much lateral forces my simple design should do the job as well. If all is going well I will upload a video today, before that I have to rewire a lot...

    Not yet ready, just for testing purposes. If it works as might be expected it will be painted, properly wired, cutting the screws etc. For me this is a completely new step of simbuilding, back in the days I gradually mounted any parts on the rig and if something was broken or had to be replaced I had to disassemble a lot of parts again. Now the "powertrain" is one big thing which can be removed in a few seconds. BTW all wooden parts will be painted at least.

    As you can see I use a worm gear form a very small motor. This worm gear (25:1) uses the full range of my 10 turn potis.

    The surge power train is ready to install - it looks simple but it was a hell of adjusting...also very heavy but pretty stable as well.

    Update: testing TL and Surge Table (TL is still only on 12V, no need for higher speed), also testing surge taken in the first video. The speed could be set way faster (PWMMax is 150 only), but then the noise will be INCREDIBLE...also no need for higher speed since I do not want to hit the wall in front lol.

    If I give it more room say over 15 ft back and forth, and move much faster (higher acceleration), per your experience would it be better? And how to setup the washout filter on this type of long surge?
