    yes you go to have a great computer with a mean graphic card for sure. I run mine at 120fps and highest graphics possible, and I just love it. I can play a few hours without any problem.

    i wish I had enough cash to buy the new pro vive wireless system. the price is the only reason I have the rift and not the vive.

    The higher resolution really makes a big difference in flying and driving sims. The difference is right in the sweet spot for them even though the actual difference isn’t huge.

    What we really need is even higher resolution and eye tracking/foveated rendering to bring this all home. There are some high resolution OLEDs about to be shown at trade shows, and the rumors are flying about 1180 series GPUs hitting later this summer.

    Should be an exciting 2019 for sure. Even without eye tracking/foveated rendering, it’s going to be a good 2018.

    Samsung Odyssey is a step up from Rift. Ive used Oculus since the DK1 days (Kickstart backer) and still use the CV1 voor roomscale games. But for seated stuff like racing and flight the Odyssey is amazing. Better blacks, better resolution (text is really clear @1.3SS) and bigger FOV. Runs really well too with motion vector mode. Hope it will work with motion cancellation.

    Drawback is the SDE and the fit. I had too modify mine around the nose section, but would not trade it for the rift for simracing and flight. For roomscale, vive and rift are better.

    Sadly the Odyssey is not available in my country so its 700 to buy here, I was lucky and got one from a guy who bought it in NY so cost me 400 euro.

    Actually, best is vive pro. Exceptional track, motion cancelation with vive tracker ( or another wand ), better definition, great sound and extreme confort. Also use just 1 usb port and great displayport for more accurate and fast data. Bonus: change lens with samsung gear and you have a perfect VR. Off course, at 1.500$.

    I second what @paulopsx2 says. I've been so busy flying and driving I've kind of dropped off the map. The Pro is expensive but stunning. I got lost in VR before. Now I kind of live there.

    +1 for me for Vive Pro. I previously went from Vive OG -> Rift because I preferred the clarity and comfort (I never had the DAS). I did miss lighthouse tracking and longer cables though. However having bought the Vive Pro, I literally just sold my Rift today. The extra detail for racing and flying makes all the difference

    Now that the 2080s (probably including a Ti) are about to hit on Monday, we'll have plenty of horsepower for the Pro as well as the VirtualLink connector that everyone has signed on to support. That thing has the connections and bandwidth to push four 4k streams at 120 Hz. That’s amazing! Add that Jensen Huang casually mentioned that the ray trace cores can do foveated rendering during his Siggraph keynote, and it’s even better.

    "The official VirtualLink standard calls for 6 lanes of high speed data – 4 DisplayPort HBR 3 channels for video, and a single USB 3.1 Gen 2 channel (2 lanes) for data – along with a mandatory 15W of power. And while you can combine the DisplayPort alt mode with those power requirements, the lynchpin is 4 lanes of video plus the USB 3.1 Gen 2 data channel. By the standard, DisplayPort alt mode replaces all of the USB 3.1 data channels when using a full 4 lane configuration, leaving only the much slower USB 2.0 baseline channels available."

    All the announced headset manufacturers are on board and all have eye tracking partners. Add that Google and LG announced a 4k 120 Hz OLED display for headsets (https://www.zdnet.com/article/google-and-lg-develop-worlds-highest-resolution-oled-display-for-vr/) last May and we've got all the ingredients for even better VR very, very soon.

    It was suicide for any company to announce a high res headset until the tools were in place to push the pixels (VirtualLink), reduce the compute load (the RTX cores and foveated rendering), do the eye tracking (all the tracking partners), and maybe even devote a GPU per eye (NVLink on the consumer cards too).

    I’m convinced a lot of that will be aimed at industry/commercial, and that headsets won’t be cheap, but the race is about to start Monday to get new and advanced headsets on the market. I think all these things will also level the playing field more and make headsets into special monitors like they should have been all along. VR is the platform. Not the headset. But I don’t know if Nvidia is licensing RTX to AMD and now Intel too since they announced they are entering the discrete GPU market. That could just be another attempt to have an exclusive platform - the GPU.

    But the 2080s will most likely go on sale tomorrow. :thumbs

    I’ll be waiting to see the price of starVR which looks like a much more polished product and also to hear what QC is like from Pimax8k owners. I’m not convinced Pimax deliver on quality or software. Initial review of StarVR says it’s better than the 8k and that’s from one of the Pimax testers.

    Also the Pimax 5k + has a better image than the 8k;) So the 8k is definetly not the best option. For the price of the StarVR you'll be able to buy a Pimax, an RTX 2080Ti and a new rig;)

    Well price is all speculation for now for both pimax and starvr. Like I said I’ll wait and see what pimax offers. Looks like they are getting the updates out though. Not so sure that latest update is a performance increase more a scaling/resolution correction which in turn gives more FPS for a given visual quality. Without full positional reprojection (brainwarp) it would be a paper weight for me though as even a 2080ti won’t push 80~90 FPS in my sims of choice and I don’t play other VR games. Word from reviewers is that further brainwarp development is unlikely before next year.
