@RufusDufusIf you are not interested in selling cards, you could share with the community how to make them, it's just an idea, not an imposition of course

@RufusDufus I am also interested in your control board. Although it seems like this may be dead, I am really hoping it isn't. So please add me to your list of interested individuals.

    Full assembly is finish.
It seem to work, when i turn with hands the encoder, the motor turn, with strong torque.
I have trouble to communicate with driver between computer.
I place an order this morning for a special cable.
Delivery between 12 september and 11 october ... so i give feedback after received it.

    Here is some news.
    The casing is finish.
    The FFB is recognized by all cars game ( pcars2 , dirt 4 , ... )
It can turn wheels when ffb is off.
I have some trouble when ffb is ON.
I think i found the problem and try to solve it as fast as possible.
Just for information when the ffb is ON, it will be very hard to turn it by hand ( i think ffb is at max due to bad wiring of my encoder ), maybe at 13Nm ( the max of the stepper motor ).

    I left another feedback asap.

Hi, I'm planning to build my own stepper sim wheel and maybe work my way up to a motor that has OSW-spec strength, but it seems your torque controller isn't available anymore. Is it possible to use the drives that you get with most steppers instead?

Hi everyone, the NEMA 23 1.9nm 2.8A is good stepper motor for a project?

Unless it is used for learning project or just for fun, I kinda don't see a point of building 1.9 Nm direct drive wheel. Retail wheels like Logitech G25/G27 and others are stronger than that.

What kind of wheel do you want to build?

I want to build, a direct drive wheel for sim racing, and simulation games, for example Euro Truck Simulator 2, Farming Simulatior.
I do not want a steering wheel with too much torque, but a normal, for example 2.5 Nm or more. But keep a project not too expensive

The motor is not the biggest cost in the project so a smaller motor would only save you little money.

On a side note, any news on the control boards ?

    Hi @RufusDufus
Just a post to throw up my hand for a board if they will be available in future.
Wouldnt mind to know if this project is in hiatus or discontinued.
It'll help me move on to something else if discontinued.

    @RufusDufus
Have you ever considered selling the bare PCB for the control board and posting a BOM so that we could solder / populate them ourselves?

This could help reduce the amount of time you have to put into assembling them and you could still make money from the PCBs sold.

If not then you can count me in for a control board.

    Thanks for your time,
    Waveform.

Just discovered that another project called ExacT force feedback steering wheel on hackaday.io which is inspired by SSW.

Can't post a link as this is my second post, so Google is your friend.

The cool thing about that one is that the hardware and software will be open source so people can build a controller board themselves.

It's still very much work in progress though, and wether or not the algorithms will be as refined as SSW remains to be seen.

If anyone has programming and stepper motor skills they should get in contact with John, the project creator.

Yes, we should definitely spread this site around simracing world, they should get help to finish the project, which i find very similar to Craig's
