I must have scared them .... Looks nice ( maybe heavy?) - but with all the carbon parts just for pretty, I'm expecting a premium price.

It will definitely have a premium price tag. I think there old one was in the neighborhood of $4000AU by the time it got to oz.

So how did this go, have not seen any feedback? 'SimXperience GS-5 prototypes will be available for the public to test drive starting Friday July 13th and continuing through Sunday July 15th. Head-to-Head racing sessions will happen in the Honda Experience tent where Honda will be providing four SimXperience Stage 5 Racing Simulators and a variety of other entertainment'.

There are several testamonials on Facebook and iRacing forum, all universally positive, but in the vast majority of cases the seat mover SCNs were also active, and the noise of the expo made it impossible to judge how noisy the GS-5 was.

And a few excerpts from iRacing's forum. I can't attach the video as it is over the forum size limit, but all you see is the SCNs moving the driver in the seat.

Thanks for the info @AussieSim :thumbs. I'm not a big Facebook user, or a member of Iracing (just don't have the time and my internet was never stable enough). Will be very interested in the price, as just purchasing four suitable quality DC servo motors/gearbox and associated controller, drivers and power supplies can be expensive by themselves, let alone adding the seat etc and a reasonable profit to make it all worthwhile. It will also be expensive to ship a (now quite heavy) race seat and associated kit all over the world. I will watch with interest :).

I was in Toronto and provided some of the feedback quoted above. Indeed, the seat was impressive. I do think it would be very immersive on its own without the SCN motion. It was comfortable, motors looked and felt strong. They seemed quiet compared to the SCN5s. They did dial back the SCN motion to highlight the GS-5. I can offer a comparison to my rig at home: a SimX stage 3 + DIY G-seat (back panels only) and wind, and @SeatTime ’s harness tensioner (amazing). I’m actually happy to say that my DIY seat with the tensioner faired incredibly well against the GS-5 in terms of lateral G force and braking/acceleration simulation. For me, I found the GS-5 particularly impressed and stood out in its incredible recreation of road texture/bumps. It was truly amazing. I am now considering some DIY heave flaps in an attempt to do the same.

I’m sure it will be very expensive, but I only have praise for the quality of the product.

Nice to hear from someone who has tested it, thanks @sberns - Re: road texture/bumps - one of G-seats many advantages - very low inertia - hard to beat. I sure many here could build something that would equal/rival it, but at what cost? - Seems to be just a more comfortable GS4 with servo motors. Price is the big question here.
