    Hi everyone,
    First sorry for my poor English, it is not my first language, I'll do my best to write correctly.
    I've been lurking here for +-2 years dreaming of your simulator. Especially @SilentChill one.

    We live in the province of Quebec (Canada) in a city call "Mirabel en haut"
    Then last year on spring we (my father and me) began a prototype and here is what we have so far...

    Yes, we are aware this is kinda a mess in different sectors especially the wiring.
    It is still an unfinished prototype (wood stuff will be changed to fiberglass) and we intend to make it cleaner in the future.
    Currently we have pitch/roll/yaw. We are thinking on adding sway , surge and heave if possible.

    Here is some key part:
    Made of fiberglass.
    Universal joint.
    Actuators are actually 2 ABS tube with RS-775 (cheap) motor running at 18k rpm but lowered with gearbox. Initially with cheap 10 turn POT, now with 10 turn hall effect (man theses thing are good and robust !)
    -self created slip ring for the 360 yaw stuff.

    woow, i saw your motor 775 and they do not seam expensive at all, what kind of gear box did you use with them... (i thing you just made the cheapest actuator around here) please share us how you made your actuator and how powerfull it is

    I used the gearbox that came with them from a circular saw (18v) a Ryobi one if I remember.
    Actuator is made with
    -the quite standard , SFU1605 ballscrew
    -2 ABS tube one 1-1/4" the others, (will have to check to be sure, but I think its a 2") it as to be enough space for the rack.

    -3d Printer to print spacers here and there and to print the rack for the POT (Hall effect in our case)

    -Some screws and "Tap" at the right place.

    1 major weakness in our build ,that we will change in the future, is that the coupling is 3d printed with PETG. and all the pull and push forces are handle by it. But so far only broke one and we changed the design of it and it never broke again.
    So we expect to make a more standard actuator like some are doing here that will not put forces on the coupling but we will still use are rack idea instead of timing belt and pulley.

    as for it's strength, we didn't do many scientific test on that, we just put the actuator to the test and with a universal joint in the middle, our system has been able to play with a 240lbs player.

    We do plan in the future to replace the ABS tube with carbon fiber for look and peace of mind ;)
    On the motor picture, it is not PS-xxxx its RS-775-9013
    Our second motor is not the 9013 its the RE-775-WC-8514 (what we found on the second saw :p but it is equivalent.
    I'll give details on the gearbox ratio later when I check it up. My memory is bad and didn't take picture that time.

    I also added a picture of our inner slipring for the 360 yaw.

    do you think that if you connect directly the motor without the gearbox it would to the work (i mean since the ball-screw it self is some kind of reductor?)

    Probably not as I would loose a lot of torque and the motor is too fast.

    I was thinking the same, but easier and cheaper to get a reducer, is to make one, cause you just need to go 3:1 or 4:1 as this motors goes from 9000 to 19000rpm, just a belt and a pulley... would be nice to get one to play. :)

    Yes using smc3 (with some. Modification to have an lcd)
    I have not tested the force of the actuator independently All I know, is that a 240lbs person had no problem on it.
    There is a universal joint so we can say that the actuator can handle at lest half of the 240lbs

    Perfect! When you say that you have made a modification to SMC3 to have an LCD, is it a screen ?. What do you mean? I do not understand what kind of modification you might need the software

    On the other hand, I do not see in the images if you used limit switches ... I do not understand what the electrical connection would be like, but I have seen in other developments that are used.
