So today was the day I finally got to install and setup my new direct drive wheel. I have a version 2 Club sport from fanatec I have been using for over 2 years. I purchased the sw20 version 2 from simplicity and today I finally got it all together and did the phone call with Ollie the owner to set it all up. What a great guy by the way, and what a great experience so far with the wheel.

Anyways apparently you cannot use the fanatic shifter without the clubsport wheel base unless you have the USB adapter cable which of course I don't have. I also have the version 3 inverted pedals from fanatic and figured maybe that would talk to it but there's no shifter port. And the wheel is a little lower than I would like and would require a bit of modification to my rig to get the wheel exactly where I want it.

So I'm so desperate to use the new wheel that I'm driving in Project Cars 2 online with an automatic transmission (picture of me trying to prevent myself from throwing up). Also note that the steering wheel isn't exactly where I wanted it so I'm driving an automatic transmission with a steering wheel that doesn't feel right cuz it's way too low.

I know if I order the adapter from fanatic it's going to be a bit before it gets here and I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and buy the Pro SIM H pattern shifter I've been eyeing up but even that is going to take a week or two to get here.

So I ask, what would you do? I really love the dd wheel but I just can't drive an automatic and enjoy it.

Looks like tomorrow I'll be putting the fanatic wheel back on until the parts come...

Hi Ciggs, great looking system; and you know if you don't scratch the itch, you'll be for ever wondering!

Go on, throw caution to the wind and buy the Pro SIM H pattern shifter, you know you want to!!!!!

    Have fun
    Jerry.

Haha! Thanks. Yeah I've been throwing caution to the wind since I started this project LOL. $2,000 for a shifter just is a hard pill to swallow. Especially when let's be honest The Fanatic shifter is fantastic I'm sure not as good as the Pro SIM obviously but for the money The Fanatic shifter is just excellent especially when you figure in the fact that it can be sequential or H pattern.

I ended up just ordering the USB adapter from fanatic. I opted for three day shipping so hopefully it comes soon.

I did have an idea though. I was racing in Project Cars 2 online and noticed almost no one runs normal Class Cars. It's all super fast cars that are sequential. Now while I don't mind this sometimes it's nice to just race normal type cars. So this had me thinking about sequential transmission and how jumping from Lobby to Lobby could result and having to switch shifters which would be a pita.

I think I'm going to lower the fanatic shifter below the Pro SIM shifter and use an extension for The Fanatic shifter and just keep it in sequential and if I need it I can just screw in the extension and swap USB.

Only thing that stinks about that is you start throwing a lot of weight on one side of the rig...

Hi ciggs, well the main thing is you made a choice, and a choice you will be happy with, I have the same kind of conundrum, upgrading my CSR wheel and peddles, all I've done is look and read, look and read, I think it will be Fanatec, but the decision, well it 2100 dollars and I'm not sure it will give me better track times.

So what about your experience with PCar 2 is it as buggy as Pcars?

I went from a clubsport v2 to DD. So far so so happy. The FF is amazing! But it doesn't work with half of my games (at least not yet, or I can't figure it out yet). Honestly I love my fanatec stuff and still trying to decide if the extra $ spent was worth it. Certain games I am sure it is... But I couldn't play wreckfest last night... And Euro truck Sim was giving me problems. I had to remove my button boxes.

So it looks like I am going to adapt my rig to use both wheelbases... Kinda a pita honestly.

As far as pc2 it's my favorite so far. The only game I play where eveythever works (motipn, pedals, wheel, shifter, VR, triple screen, etc...)

Ac works as well but I still haven't figured out the motion settings. Pc2 just feels right, and ac just feels all wrong...

I wish time grew on trees

Hi ciggs, downunder serves you up this
    https://www.fanatec.com/au-en/bundle/product/forza-motorsport-wheel-bundle-for-xbox-one-and-pc.html

but I hate the rim! I would rater this instead

    https://www.fanatec.com/au-en/steering-wheels/csl-elite-steering-wheel-mclaren-gt3-aus.html

I haven't purchased PCars2 because of the bugs in PCars 1, WHY? well I favour only a few tracks, and 1/ on the list is Bathurst (Mount Panorama ) now in PCars1 just as you hit (skyline) on a hot lap you ran into an invisible wall, no mater what car, and it was never fixed.

So I thought the coders and the company were the same the bugs were the same.

Well that's crazy... Drink a beer while you check out that way you feel a little better LOL.

I never used the CSR setup so I can't say how much better or worse it is than the standard clubsport wheel base setup.

What about buying on eBay and having it shipped perhaps used? I have the version 2 and it works awesome.

Easy choice. Go with the DD wheel. Automatic for a few days till you get the shifter you want is far better than continuing with a toy (fanatic). Of course this is all my opinion.
