For some reason, something excatly like this:

Is like hunting down a Unicorn in Australia!

Would any of the EU/US based members be able to ship me one and I will cover your costs to ship/purchase? (Within reason - I don't need a 24K Gold plated one :D :D )

It's the same one used on the @DOFreality rig:

I'm rebuilding my rig and want a low profile u-joint assembly.

    Please and Thank you :D

I have not seen a complete unit in Australia, but have you considered buying 2 separate universal joint flanges and a suitable size Ujoint to make your own?

In a car spare parts or scrapping shop you can use cardan shaft for transmission

German word for it is "Kardangelenk" ;-) I had a quick lo0k but was not successful. There are many cardan joints for sale (steering joints, from trucks etc) but most of them have no mounting plate.

Yeah, I have considered that, but for some reason, the flange parts can be really expensive and then you have to match part numbers to UJ sizes etc... There is no single one-stop-shop for these things.

The closest I can find is a PTO assembly (used on street sweepers and tipper trucks) and they start in the hundreds of $ :(

I am having the same issue. The above solution comes in at about $70usd each. I need 6. Thats over $400 just for ujoints. So i am still searching also. @Wanegain was using a ujoint for his kits but I'm not sure of the details.

Archie needs a single assembly for his main joint, so the ones that I linked would work. But I do see your point Bruce. Have you considered steering wheel linkages or other miniature u-joint assemblies and welding them to plates?

Thanks, everyone. @Radioproffi came to the rescue with a complete unit for just under AU$60 (PayPal exchange rate) shipped.

That is a bargain when compared to local prices. :D

@Historiker - I am reluctant to buy "off the shelf" as I do like to fabricate stuff myself, but I'm at a point now where I simply can't be a$$ed lugging my welder out and setting up some space to weld. :grin I don't have a workshop to speak of. :(

This is what I used under my seat in a 2 dof but it has taken my weight and that of the seat and full frame just fine. It’s a 3/4" DD to 3/4" DD for about $30. Not flange mount but it’s easily adapted. I know Archie got what he needed but for others...
