    Hi Guys,

Apologies for the click-bait title, :) but in Australia the costs of a GTX 1080Ti are crazy.

I just wanted to gauge if this is a worldwide thing due to the current Crypto craze??

I'm in the market for a GTX 1080Ti (Looking at the Aorus WaterForce card ) but it is AU$1800 here in Oz!!

I just can't justify that amount on a hardware (That is TWO Oculus Rifts!)

If anyone in AU sees one for sale at a decent price, let me know?

(Maybe we can set up a thread similar to the Game Specials, but for hardware?? )

Shopbot! I always forget that one.... Found the Waterforce for a much better price (within the realms of not need a re-mortgage!)

I will investigate... Thanks yet again @noorbeast

If you have waited this long @Archie it may be worth hanging out for another couple of months to see what Nvidia has planned for Volta/Ampere in 2018, that is what I am doing.

I'm always been a few years behind when it comes to GPU's. My GTX 970 is still going strong and it's only (High) VR where it can show it's age now. Having said that, with VR v2 in the wings and the newer generation of Video cards coming along soon, I concur that I may just wait and see.... :popcorn

Hi Archie, I purchased the Gigabyte AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Xtreme Edition 11GB Video Card
in December, from mwave for $1149.00, and I just looked its over 1400, so I glad i purchased when I did.:)

No sure about the water block idea, the hottest it has been is 60c running Arma 3 in 4 K and maintains 60fps, for this card running all sims (assetto ect:) in 4k is a walk in the park.

If your going to purchase the card, either way it would be a great choice.

    Regards Jerry.

As with all "frivolous" computer purchases, my Car must have overheard the conversation and decided to "blow something" on the way home from work on Friday!!

I'm fully expecting the repair to cost $1499. :grin

(Thank God I didn't want to buy a Bitcoin.) o_O

OK... In case anyone else happens across this thread I researched the heck out of GFX cards and decided to steer clear of the 1080 Ti at the moment.

Jumping from my 970GTX to a GTX1080 was enough of a leap and I plumbed for the ASUS ROG STRIX 1080 A8G at $AU979 but with 20% off via Ebay to bring it to $783.
Then sold the GTX970 for $240, so all up AU$543 for a 1080.

I've overclocked the STRIX to 2050Mhz and 11500 Mhz RAM and it's running everything I throw at it in VR without issue.

I know the Ti is newer architecture but a 1080 vs 1080Ti only offers around a 7% increase in performance for a nearly 70% increase in cost. Makes no sense at all $$$ wise.

@Jerry Atrick - The car repair came in at over $3000 :( . Luckily I do the IT for my mechanic so we came to an agreement in terms of labour cost! Phew...
