My 2DOF (Xytras)

Finally, the first pictures of my 2DOF, more will come once I cleaned up my mess and the wires.
I will also add the dimensions then but for now some little tweaks and changes still need to be done.

Plus stuff I had lying around. So no direct costs now but of course I bought them once.
All of this or similar stuff is available for less than 50 EUR.

- Some wood sheets from old furniture for the "Engine" floor and the pedal base
- Some bolts M8 + Nuts
- "Thumbscrews" (the blue cross-shaped) from old Ikea furniture

- steel bar for the motor mount
- aluminium sheet for the POTS mount

+ Game Engine PC which isn´t really required but I had one POV Nvidia ION left over.


Tools used:

- Duro D-ES 153, cheap (~ 50 EUR) electrode welding machine for the steel frame
- my CNC mill for the POD mount (not really required but I love to use it ;-) )
- a metal hacksaw
- a wood hacksaw
- thread cutter
- grinding wheel (to clean my horrible weld) called "Fächerscheibe" in german
- workbench with vice
- drill with stand
- wrenches
- screwdriver
- swiss army knife
- couple of pencils
- paintbrush
- ruler
- screw clamps
- soldering iron

The usual stuff - you name it...

Don´t look too close to the welding, I suck at it but hey that is the first time I ever used a welding machine and trust me it is no fun if you have a cheap machine.

(Thank you for that!) made by RacingMat and did some tweaks to my setup. I wanted everything to be as variable as possible so I can change it to fit the size of my kids.
You can move the seat, you can move the pedals and it is possible to change the height of the wheel.
And you can unmount everything so you can move this to a different place.

Things that need to be done / changed:

- The motors need to be replaced, these wheelchairmotors do work but they are too weak and I assume
they will die soon. They run on 24/2A so I guess something with 24/5A should do the job way better.

- I need to extend the wire for the shifter, it isn´t connected yet because the wire is too short.

- All wires need to be sorted so it doesn´t look that messy.

Not really changed on this except that I built sort of a shield for the arduino cause there wires were to error prone.
(Besides what idiot did the layout for the arduino that the pins don´t match the grid ;-) )

OK...what kind of jack do you have used to connect motors to Arduino? They are very pretty

The golden ones ? They are some cinch... oh I forgot these in the list.
They look nice but they suck here because there is high risk that they connect if you pull them out. The plastic stuff is better.
I removed some cable protection "spring" part from them which even increased the risk of connecting them and insulated the ones for power.
