3d Printed Wheel Parts/ Sim Related Prints

After speaking to the Prusa Tech's. the big problem was essentially that i used nothing on the bed with a VERY sticky TPU filament. In turn damaging the PEI exactly as they said it would on the Material list they have on the site. I Vaguely remember reading something to that effect when i first started reading the documentation, but with all the excitement of the whole thing, I obviously forgot. Oh well lesson learned and thankfully im still able to use the bed in the in term while i want for a New PEI sheet.

I Managed to get another part printed today after Much frustration with having the filament Jam up Prior to entering the Hot end. Basically what was happening was the temps were dropping when the fan would kick on 100% on layer 2 causing the hot end to to cool off enough and then proceed to jam up the extruder. So Dropped fan power on the first 4 layers and gave the hot end another 10 degrees to play with, No bubbling of the TPU or spatter, Oh and I also dropped the speed from 30mm/s to 20mm/s which i think helped big time. The Prusa Tech took a Average of what speeds were listed on sites that sell TPU and it was 5mm/s up to 20mm/s My Canadian distributor has 30mm/s on the product page, which might work for some printers, but is a challenge with the bowden extruder style.

Steve Spenceley sure is pretty shit hot at 3D Modeling ,,,I wish i had half that guys talent on the modeling front.

Agreed @Steve spenceley has some Very fine modeling skills, Ive put them to the test a few times.

what should we use to make the wheel grips? what material i have always wonder that

@Nick Moxley, I searched for 3d files from these guys (to purchase) do you have a link. All I could locate was commercial parts sales (very expensive). I'm way too cheap to pay those prices.

Unfortunately Bruce, All the stuff im printing lately is in cahoots with Steve at https://opensimrigs.com/ and yes is locked behind a pay wall. Shapeways was How steve was providing some of his parts, but the prices they were charging was killing him and his customers (As you've already seen) Even the 3dHubs parts he had done were rather sketchy and not up to the quality he was expecting. I'm able to fill that void and provide a few new services that would be Insane Expensive through 3dhubs or shapeways and thats the TPU stuff. Any Exotic material and your prices go Sky High.

Ty exactly what I was looking for. Interesting approach. I see some cool designs. Maybe future project. Since the new wheel I've been doing mostly road course laps. The f1wheel build kit is kinda sweet.

Hamilton wheel is still very much a WIP. Sorting out new smaller paddles and getting the display mounted nicely ect ect.

It would be a nice addition to just be able to cut my own plates. Dxf files maybe.

Yes the Mk2 Has been known to be TOP of the barrel for overall quality when comparing to comparable machines in the to 2-3k range.

lol Understandable to a point.......Tho I dont think a Customer wants to add a another 60-80$ towards his wheel build......however If a customer wants to send in or Add his own " OEM " badge....BY all means.

And really these cheap Plastic Chromed parts are Perfect for the job at hand....I got some coming, ill post up what i think, No worries.

I totally agree Nick, I was just thinking about those Chinese excellences that hardly invent something but can copy anything for 1/10th of the original price. Well, don't talk about quality though... moto monsters/arduinos, since we're here, just as an example.

But I agree, I wouldn't pay extra $$$ just for an original bWm logo, but if someone can...

here is how i mounted my hall effect potentiometer to my wiper motors






i have attached the STL files if anyone needs them.
the inside diameter for socket allen screw head and the thing that sticks out from the motor is 17.15mm
there are tw0 files for the motor part.one for 6mm and one for 8mm
for the motor part i have drilled a hole and screwed it to the motor so it can't slip
