    My Motion Simulator:
    6DOF
    Hello everyone,

    I had this idea for a while, to do a motion simulator .., and then I saw SillentChill on youtube ... followed him here and began reading a lot of things.

    I wanted to do it low cost as most of us .., wanted to use wormgear ... and I saw Wanabeaflyer thread with drawing for a custom diy linear actuator ...

    I'm flying and building RC plane for the past 10 years, I have 4 years of 3D printer / arduino / sketchup experience, and I'm test engineer since 2007 working with test bench every day, building a 6DOF is possible.

    First of all, thanks to everyone here ... without this every things would be allmost impossible.

    My project :

    => 6DOF stewart platform
    => Wanabeflyer drawing as guideline for design
    => Sabertooth 2x32
    => Arduino uno x3 (thanks SMC3 & Rufus ...)
    => PSU DPS600PB (12V 47A 6€ per unit @ servershop24.de) I took 8 (the last 2 will be spare of used for my RC lithium charger)
    => Motors ! 3000rpm / 12V 270W
    https://smartmotor.en.alibaba.com/p...le.html?spm=a2700.7803228.1998738836.8.NeUjEE
    => I bought 6x 60A relay NO/NC, 1 for each actuator, I plan to link the end stop to those relay and cut 12V power in case of break.
    => I bought 1x 20A 220V relay for emergency stop button

    Current focus : First linear actuator build (then 5 more)
    @Wanabeeflyer : I added a bearing under the potentiometer puley to support load from the belt
    I will use M10 linkage at both end
    I'm printing NGEN from colorfab, it is PETG, I think it would be given the size I designed

    Waiting for delivery this week :
    => Motors
    => Sabertooth
    => PSU

    Hi Matey nice progress :)

    Little bit of advice, you need to lose the rose joint from the bottom as it causes the actuator to twist as @SeatTime nicely pointed out to me :D You need to get some UV joints on there to stop any unwanted twisting

    Hi @baykah very nicely done sir :) the great thing here is that no 2 actuators are the same, everyone brings something new and different to the design . the member of this forum Rock ..

    Great work and once again i see elements that will be great for newbies to take on .. even better to see more versions of our actuators being made ,,, by the way those motors seem dammm good bang for bucks items and if they do the job they could see this thing roll out big time ,

    The design allows for scaling up a bit in size and also down now if we could crack the Encoder feedback then we would
    have i believe is a very cost ,effective strong, yet simple working solution to the average joes motion simulator .. Not quite SCN speeds but then they kick butt in power LOL as Tim Tool Time taylor would say "MORE POWER" lol

    Great job, it looks really slick!

    I've also been rolling an actuator design in my head for a while (I don't like the amount of backlash that's present with the lever/wormgear solution). What's this encoder feedback problem you speak of? (feel free to PM if you don't want to hijack the thread)

    Nice job Baykah, Ill follow your progress really close as I'm building some of these actuator.
    BTW I've decide to go with the MY7712 motors because of the higher RPM for mine, I'll let you know the result.
    Keep up with the good work pal!

    Welcome!
    Your actuator looks great! It would be nice if you can share the 3d printed parts.

    I will do, I'm just waiting to build the second one because I've changed the part allready twice.

    Once it is stable and working great, I will post them, if someone want the beta version, just ask

    Watching your build Very Closely. Appears you've found a way to make a Very Affordable Actuator. Keep it up.

    This part is called gearbox. ;)
    A linear actuator doesn't need one, the ballscrew does this job.

    Great project. I'm still studying up for my first go and thinking about mirroring the same. Please keep posting your progress and especially the gotchas!
