    TL with moving monitor's would be a no go imo. Static racer's use the Visuals to know they are sliding in conjunction with wheel FFB and sounds....but the Visuals play a big role in feeling of TL and thats the same for with Motion.

    i've 500W motors with attached gearboxes which deliver 30 rpm/min. this is 180° movement in 1 sec.
    do you guys think this is fast enough ?

    So After finding a Smoking deal on a pair of motor's another member on the site is using, I decided to pick up a pair. (40$ + 30$ shipping) and I also picked them up while racing down south to save on Duty.... cha ching.

    Got them home and popped them open to find a Gorgeous Spiral cut circle grooved Ti Nitride coated main gear off the motor shaft followed by Uber beefy Steel gears for the lever gears. Took a bit of work to get the Stock grease removed, But a few dozen paper towels, a toothbrush with some Iosol and some blasts with the compressor and she's all clean and ready for a re greasing. I'll make up a set of plates to close up the gear box and use the 4 outside holes for mounting to a plate of sorts.

    Needed some Pot mounts on the new motor's.....Popped off the bearing seal to find a nice countersunk 1/8 hold asking to be drilled and tested for harness....Guess what, NOT hardened. Awesome so the drilling began after choosing a nice strait 1/4 bolt shank to work with.

    Correct Milton, After you mentioned the welding you did to get your Pots installed, I thought about trying to drill the shaft and got lucky these aren't Super Duper Hardened steel gears. Im now thinking i might use these for a Heave project instead of another rig in the future....haven't decided.

    Add in @Pit style Hinged plate and i could make it relatively easy....Only problem is I dont have room to go Down with the plate, only Up....That is unless i figure out a different place to mount my Mechanical frame stops for the TL. But that might lead to other issues....hrmm...the brain storming begins....:think

    As discussed earlier, The plastic coupler's could be a little better in design.....I finally got around to adding the last steel coupler on my TL motor but ran into a slight issue, somehow the small 4 black bushing's were Overly small/sloppy in this set of the steel couplers VS The Stock plastic one's......So i came up with a Pin/Fuel tubing solution....Fuel tubing from RC cars is ridiculously strong stuff and will serve this job perfectly and the pins were just some 11.6mm drive pins i shortened to the required height.

    PS Shoe goo wont stick to silicone tubing no matter how much you apply....Lol So I used some CA aka Superglue/Tire glue/Cut yo Finger quick repair glue, ect ect.

    If you plan to run them as hard as i do, It wouldn't be a bad idea to have on hand for when you do your first grease job(after a year or 2) and find some slop/play in the plastic units.

    So i had a Catastrophic failure of a bearing on the worm gear shaft on my Right seat motor last night. Felt a Gritty feeling while in the seat and decided to shut down and inspect. (good thing too).

    Turns out the Bearing that lost its seal a while back(year plus) had 100% come apart. Luckily there was no damage to the worm gear or the nylon main gear. I proceeded to try and remove the Inner Race of the bearing But it proved to been rather seized on there, With multiple heating and cooling phases and trying to Punch the worm gear shaft out of the Inner race, I eventually decided to Take a Very thin cut off wheel and slice the race off. Once removed I "borrowed" a bearing from Buddy's motor's and went about re installing.

    Im not too sure exactly why the bearing came apart as it did. Maybe the Larger style bearing's used in these boxes with metal shields very much Require the shield to keep them together, where as the Micro bearing's i deal with on my RC cars dont. I can remove a shield and the bearing performs as normal.


    Either way, 1 more thing learned and dealt with. Spare bearing's will be ordered asap.
