    Hi Guys ...
    As usual everything starts with inspiration ideas from this great site ... thanks to you all hug: ... and I was attracted to make a traction loss with sway in the beginning ... but it turned up to be a great drifting mechanism :grin ...

    it all started 4 months ago with sketchup and SketchyPhysics with my own design for this cockpit model ...

    Hooked to SimTools via this great tutorial and tested it see some results here ...


    then started with the core front and rear bearings arms and the frame ...

    waiting for a 1605 ball screw shaft and nuts to replace these lead screw with bearings Idea ... it turned out that shaft are so soft Iron to handle the fast motion ... a lot of Iron filings is coming out .

    Is that bearing setup designed to avoid backlash? It looks like maybe a spring on each bearing forcing them apart to keep some pressure on them?

    which is already there :thumbs ... but my lead screw seemed not hardened after "cold rolled " so is giving filings OR the bearings are jumping the threads if spring is lightened ... I can't get a spring pressure balance between this and that :confused:...

    Woodworking and building the chair bridge steps started after testing everything under SketchyPhysics ...

    Thanks @Pit you still have the lead buddy ...

    Most of the woodworking structure is typically easy for you guys to imagine ... So going directly to the controller and the electronics side details ...

    For a controller I'm using the RMC controller with some minor modifications to the outer shape as will be updated in the original thread ASAP ...

    For motors I used a 3 3-phase AC motors ... two of them are 1/4 HP or .18kw "the front and rear motor " ... and one 1/3 HP or .33kw "the center motor " ...

    For feedback pot I'm using a 10k 10 turns regular pot with a 3cm roller on it's axe to give me a travelling distance of a 9.5cm for each turn that would be a 95cm for the full 10 turns with max resolution ... which I have a 90cm travelling distance so it will not reach the breaking limit for the pot sparing 1/2 turn on each side ... then using a bicycle breaking wire and a spring to get the linear to circular action needed ...

    For VFD's I used my old 1 HP inverters ...

    For computer I salvaged the MB and the HD from an HP compaq CD7700 minitower with some of it's case chases to fasten everything securely under the seat ...

    For motors continuous cooling I cut the motors shaft flushed to the rear end cover and replaced them with a 12v 8cmx8cm fans ...

    Question Speedy - Can you still use your existing rear motor impellers that came on the motors for cooling also????? I know mine are large with a number of blades for cooling?

    Of course not ... and I mean I removed the "impellers" and cut the motors shaft itself ... so there is room to install the 12v fans inside the back cover ... plus it looks good too .
    The issue is those impellers "in my motors" are designed to give air at the rated operating RPM ... they are not VFD ready as yours . So, That's why ? :thumbs
