    Hello everyone,

    I've been lurking here for years and seen some pretty amazing rigs! @Nick Moxley told me to finally create an account and at least look into what the DIY can offer.

    First I have a 80/20 cockpit that I designed and love to bits! I would like to have a seat mover for it but I am really picky in how I want it to look. Also I want to have strong motors that are fast in reaction. The best motors I've seen in videos are the scn5 and the scn6. I would want something smooth like that.

    I am also strapped for space and the over the shoulder setup isn't really all that feasible for what I am looking to do. I have my rig set up to be very adjustable. I am 6',5" or 198cm and weight in at 138kg or 302 lbs. I also let my 6 year old and my 16 year old's friends jump on when he has them over. So I built the rig to accommodate different size people.

    I am really interested in doing a design like this and was thinking of getting some SCN6's from sim-Xperience to power the platform. I am really limited for time since I work full-time and go to school full-time.

    I haven't been able to find the thread yet for this seat mover but I really like this concept also.

    The desk racer (yellow sim) is not really suitable for someone of your weight. Even with 60:1 boxes it may struggle.
    Id rate that to maybe 125kg max . You will need to look at shoulder mount at rear motors for best performance.

    For Info here are the specs for the SCN-6 - Note that the 50/60Kg model is a bit slow for a car sim and the Graph is not for a vertical lift.

    Agree with bsft, for someone of your weight the advantages of leverage cannot be discounted. From the photos it seems your sim already extends out the back and the two SCN-6s would look as good as SCN-5s. FI most motion sims have adjustable steering and pedals for different sized users.

    @nclabs , you know SCN6 well, whats your opinion of 2 SCN6 shoulder mount rear with a 138kg driver?

    Wow thanks for all the quick info. I've checked out the site listed but didn't understand much lol. As far as extending out the back, it's sandwiched between the closet and my desk. The room is quite small since it double as a guest room and has a futon in there too.

    Yeah I'm a pretty bug guy so anything I want I have to pay more for lol.

    Well I also need to lose weight regardless. This can be a motivator, could get me moving faster than the wife nagging me about

    The "only" motors I know they can lift a weight of 140KG are winches. My suggestion: winches, Arduino and Sabertooth 2x60, or you use motors with 60:1 boxes in combination with springs. Springs I have successfully tested, they works fine.

    How about two of these motors that they are using in this 6dof platform. I've always loved the solution for having a shot arm connected to a longer one.

    they are 240v motors and its just a lever on them, like any other motor.

    Yeah, two SCN6 (the 40kg force model) can easily move a 138 kg driver, just keep the seat on balance putting the joint in the right spot underneath the seat, and keep the actuator attachment high up, at the shoulders level. We are talking about a seat mover right?

    We are but I'm very limited on rear clearance so wanted a more compact solution.

    I have to agree with others @leemstradamus, a shoulder mount would be the best solution.

    However, just to give you an idea here is my compact sim with 60:1 gearboxes, in full frame mode carrying all the Clubsport and Warthog gear as well as my 100kgs: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/dx-racer-compact-simulator.5866/page-9#post-70709

    So, if you were to do just a compact seat shaker, move the connecting rod point as far forward as possible, use 60:1 with 200w motors or even go the 320w motors with a different control board like the sabertooth, then it may be marginal but you could possibly make it work. You would need to accept that you would be pushing the limits.

    Your rig its awesome! I'm only looking to move the seat.

    I'm not really disagreeing with anyone on what needs to be done but am saying it is rather limited, with the space I have available. At this point it is all in the idea phase and I'm shooting for the stars. Budget and particulars will be ironed out once I see what can be accomplished theoretically.

    I know there has to be a motor that could accomplish what I'm after, but it has to be within reason. My reason may a bit high. Was willing to go $2200 for simx scn6's so somethings I hope could be found.

    Mine also converts into just a seat shaker, the pedal and wheel post is removable with 2 bolts. Hence what I am suggesting is that while it is marginal, with careful design and motor selection you could possibly make a compact seat shaker design work at 135kg, if there is no alternative space wise.
